Family (obitelj)

MOJ/MOJA (possessive pronoun)

In Croatian, moj and moja mean my. We use 'moj' in front of masculine nouns and 'moja'
in front of feminine nouns. For example:

moja mama
moja sestra
moj brat
moj tata

Task 1: Complete with an appropriate form verb to be and translate:

1. Ja sam kćerka.
2. On je moj tata.
3. Oni su brat i sestra.
4. Mi smo djed i baka.
5. One su sestre.
6. Vi ste roditelji.
7. Ona je moja žena.
8. On je moj muž
9. Mi smo obitelj.
10. Oni su muž i žena.

Task 2: Translate:

1. You are my grandfather. Ti si moj djed.


2. She is my grandmother. Ona je moja baka.
3. We are mother and father. Mi smo mama i tata.
4. They are husband and wife. Oni su muž i žena.
5. Marija is my sister. Marija je moja sestra.
6. Marko is my brother. Marko je moj brat.
7. Ivan and Ana are brother and sister. Ivan i Ana su brat i sestra.
8. He is my son. On je moj sin.
9. She is my daughter. Ona je moja kćerka.

Vocabulary: different age groups

učenik / učenica = student, excluding university students


student / studentica = only university student
djevojčica = little girl (female child)
dječak = little boy (male child)
djevojka / cura = young woman / girlfriend
dečko = young man / boyfriend
muškarac = man
žena = woman
