Comment (not important)
You need to be a suitably qualified engineer to perform analysis and design and
experienced in this type of work.
Please check the analysis model to ensure that it is in accordance with your physical
model requirements.
Never ignore errors or warnings that occur during the calculation of the analysis results.
These should be resolved before the results are adopted for whatever purpose.

An ERROR typically comes from the following reasons:
In case of a WARNING the procedure continues . A WARNING typically comes from the following
reasons:
- Overlapped elements
- complete the MIDAS model (input loads, analysis options, etc)
- perform the analysis and design
- change the cross sections that not satisfy the checks
- Select FILE/EXPORT /see the following image)
The name of the model must be the same of the name before imported. The file extension must

Introduction
Tekla Structures – Miidas Gen / Civil link is a tool developed in order to speed up the time usually
required to design structural models and to perform the phase of analysis and design.
Units of measure
Tekla S. allows to use a different unit of measure between models drawing and A&D models.
Also, the procedure works differently depending by the Merge option:
a) Merge option not activated
The procedure transfers the model considering the unit of measure chosen by the user from the
option command. Nodes coordinates are update following these unit of measure.
B) Merge option activated
The procedure transfers the model considering:
the unit of measure chosen by the user according to the option command.
it checks the unit of measure reported in the MGT / MCT file already exported from Midas.

Owner’s View
S “From the day that Kirnu was chosen for the Finnish
pavilion it was quite clear that there is a need for 3D steel
design software,” said Jouni Lehtonen, construction manager
for Finland at the World EXPO 2010 and representative of
Finpro. “We knew that Tekla Structures is Finnish software
and one of the best on the market, so it was quite an obvious
choice. Aaro Kohonen Oy who made the conceptual model also
suggested using Tekla.”
“There was a relatively short preparation time for the
project so we needed every possible time-saving solution we
could find to complete the design in time. Tekla Structures
provides actual masses of the structure and so it is a fair
solution for both the contractor and Finpro. The after-use
aspect was also important,” Lehtonen explained. “The structure
of Kirnu has been designed so that up to two additional floors
can be built if needed. If there is a need for additional elevator
shafts or staircases, the software will make designing them
easier.”
“It would have been impossible for
engineers to convert this curved
structure into 2D drawings by
using just 2D software.”
