BEING ABLE TO BALANCE OUT COLORS AND MAKING EYE-PLEASING DESIGNS IS SUCH A NECESSITY FOR GRAPHIC
DESIGNERS. YOU WOULDN’T WANT TO MAKE SOMETHING TOO BRIGHT SO THAT THEN PEOPLE WOULDN’T WANT TO LOOK
AT IT FOR TOO LONG AND IT WOULDN’T BE A “GOOD” DESIGN. THE COLORS CLASH AND THEN LOOK SO WRONG.

HAVE YOU COLORS ARE ALL AROUND US AND IF YOU TAKE A CLOSER LOOK,
THEY EACH HAVE A CERTAIN MEANING ASSOCIATED WITH THEM.

EVER IT’S KIND OF LIKE AN UNWRITTEN RULE THAT CERTAIN COLORS


HAVE MEANING.

THOUGHT FOR EXAMPLE:

ABOUT
SOMEONE WEARING A YELLOW DRESS CAN BE FUN AND
PLAYFUL, WHILE A YELLOW SIGN CAN BE CAUTION AND DANGER!

Evokes Strong / Passionate Emotions.


Love, Comfort, Confidence, Warmth, Cheerful, Happy, Attentive.
Anger, and Danger Caution, Anger, and Fustration.

WARMER TONES INCLUDE RED, ORANGE, AND
YELLOWS. THEY’RE NORMALLY ASSOCIATED
Excitement, Enthusiasm, Energetic. WITH BRIGHT, EXCITEMENT, AND EVEN DANGER.
Refreshing (orange juice). THEY ALSO EVOKE REALLY STRONG EMOTIONS

- Created in 1976.
- Between 1977-1998, Apple used the
Rainbow Apple Logo.

Why does this design “stand out”?


- It stands out because the simplicity. WHY THE BITE?
They’ve grown and tried to make their
logos as stylish as possible. The chrome

- It stands out because of the color used
and the simplicity of it. THere’s not much
going on, so it’s easier to remember and
the design communicates the right
emotions that target wants.

WHITE: CLEANLINESS & HEALTH.


THIN, SLEEK LINES: ELEGANCE AND MODERN.

MERCEDES-
BENZ.
- Created in 1909.
- It’s one of few car logos that has stayed
similar to the original design over time.
- The three prongs represent: air, land, and sea
—each a part of the automotive industry.

Why does this design “stand out”?


- It stands out because of the simplicity of the
logo. The three-prong star makes it such a
simple design that‘s easy to remember. The
logo’s silver color communicates
professionalism, security, value, and quality.

SILVER: LUXURY, PROFESSIONAL, AND ELEGANT.
