1. Watch the video of the organisation United Human Rights in class (https://www.humanrights.com/what-are-
human-rights/) , in which the history and content of the Declaration are explained. Then answer the questions:
What is the most common answer when you ask people what human rights are?
Have human rights always existed? When and why did they emerge?
No, they emerged in 1948, when the UDHR was adopted by 56 members of the united nations
It depends on each person because everyone should treat people the way they like to be treated.
2. Imagine you have to explain the UDHR to a 7-year-old child. Rewrite the content of the UDHR using PLAIN
language. For each Article, use no more than 15 words.
Article 4 Nobody has the right to treat you as his or her slave.
No one shall be held in slavery or servitude; slavery and
the slave trade shall be prohibited in all their forms.
Article 5 No one should be treated badly.
No one shall be subjected to torture or to cruel, inhuman
or degrading treatment or punishment.
Article 6 We are all people.
Everyone has the right to recognition everywhere as a
person before the law.
Article 7 We should all have the same rights.
All are equal before the law and are entitled without any
discrimination to equal protection of the law. All are
entitled to equal protection against any discrimination in
violation of this Declaration and against any incitement to
such discrimination.
Article 8 Everyone is the same, everyone has the same rights.
Everyone has the right to an effective remedy by the
competent national tribunals for acts violating the
fundamental rights granted him by the constitution or by
law.
Article 9 No one can be hurt intentionally.
No one shall be subjected to arbitrary arrest, detention or
exile.
Article 10 We should all have the same rights.
Everyone is entitled in full equality to a fair and public
hearing by an independent and impartial tribunal, in the
determination of his rights and obligations and of any
criminal charge against him.
Article 11 Everyone has the right to defend themselves.
1. Everyone charged with a penal offence has the right to
be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law
in a public trial at which he has had all the guarantees
necessary for his defence.
2. No one shall be held guilty of any penal offence on
account of any act or omission which did not constitute a
penal offence, under national or international law, at the
time when it was committed. Nor shall a heavier penalty
be imposed than the one that was applicable at the time
the penal offence was committed.
Article 12 We all need privacy.
No one shall be subjected to arbitrary interference with his
privacy, family, home or correspondence, nor to attacks
upon his honour and reputation. Everyone has the right to
the protection of the law against such interference or
attacks.
Article 13 We should all have the same rights.
1. Everyone has the right to freedom of movement and
residence within the borders of each State.2. Everyone has
the right to leave any country, including his own, and to
return to his country.
Article 14 If someone hurts you, you have the right to go to another

In which areas does your school seem to be promoting human rights principles? In equality for opportunities.
In which areas do there seem to be human rights problems? There aren’t really any human rights problems
at school.
What needs to be done to improve the human rights climate in your school? (150 words)
This school is full of children who support fascist groups in a absurd manner. Kids with absolutely no
information about real problems in the world, that have occurred during history, make bad jokes about
dictators that have existed in Europe. For example, they talk about Franco acting like he was the best thing in
the world, when, he hurt many people. And some people find it funny but considering that my family was
affected by the dictatorship. They also think that’s its funny to talk about Hitler as if he was a good person. It’s
incredibly frustrating because they think that its funny even though the majority don’t actually believe what
they are saying.
