Primavera helps organization manage just about any type of portfolio. Primavera gives a multitude ways
to organize filter and sort activities, projects and resources. It has a rich graphical interface to plan and
manage reports on projects.

OBJECTIVE:

1) The course demonstrates the useful application of software in project management and helps
participants develop skills to handle project using Primavera covering all basic feature of
software over web and offline.
2) Participants learn planning, scheduling and controlling of small and large scale project driving
down cost minimizing risk and delivering result for key stake holders, selecting the right strategic
wise of project and enhancing resource capacity.

AIM – Applying Critical Path Method (CPM) in project management using Primavera

SOFTWARE USED – primavera P6

THEORY – Critical path is the longest duration path through a network diagram and determine the
shortest time to complete the project .

Critical path method- The critical path method is an algorithm for scheduling a set of project activities.
It is commonly used on conjunction with the program evaluation and review technique. A critical path is
determined by identifying activities and measuring the time required to complete them from start to
finish.

Float-In project management, float or slack is the amount of time that a task in network can be delayed
without causing a delay to:

 subsequent tasks ("free float")

 Project completion date ("total float").

PROCEDURE

1. At first create a new project by clicking on file ,new on the keyboard

2. Now add an activity on the project that have been created .For adding activity
 Select Edit , Add,
 Press the insert key on the keybord
 Click on the add icon on the edit toolbar
3. After that assigning predecessor to the activity
4. Now in order to display critical path in primavera
 Press F9 and click the option button
 Find the setting define critical activities as choose longest path
 Reschedule your project
 Gantt chart will show a critical path
PRECAUTION

1. No physical precaution is required

2. Student to input entries will come to avoid errors

CONCLUSION

The longest path would easily traced using primavera

AIM: Understanding Primavera Database and User Interface.

SOFTWARE USED: Primavera P6

THEORY:

Primavera Data Base

Database server:
The stand-alone installation of Oracle Primavera P6 software, installs Oracle Database Express Edition
(Oracle Database XE). This database server component of the stand-alone installation is required to store
the P6 project management databases on an individual computer
There will be three default users for both Project Management and Methodology Management:
 For Project Management, the default users are ADMPRM$PM, PRIVPRM$PM, and
PUBPRM$PM.
 For Methodology Management, the default users are ADMPRM$MM, PRIVPRM$MM, and
PUBPRM$MM.

Databases: A database is required to store the Oracle Primavera P6 data:

 The project management database stores the Project Management data used by Oracle Primavera
P6 software. It is a required database installed via the stand-alone installation
 The methodology management database stores project templates that can be used when creating
new projects. It is an optional database installed by default via the stand-alone installation.

Desktop client:
 The Project Management desktop client enables users to access the Project Management database
to plan and control a large number of projects.
 The Methodology Management desktop client enables users to access the Methodology
Management database to create project templates if this optional functionality is being
implemented.
PRIMAVERA USER INTERFACE:
(Students to write short notes on each of the entities of user interface as below, faculty to discuss the tabs
in detail)
1. Main Menu: (Write small notes on all the menu items and just name of functions in each menu)
2. Tool Bars: Small description of 2-4 lines
3. Table Window: Small description of 2-4 lines
4. Gant Chart Area: Small description of 2-4 lines
5. Detail Window: Small description of 2-4 lines
6. Customizable data Modification tabs: Small description of 2-4 lines and name of all the available
tabs.

AIM: - Understanding Organizational Breakdown Structure (OBS) in Primavera Software.

SOFTWARE USED:- PRIMAVERA P6

INTRODUCTION:-

ORGANIZATIONAL BREAKDOWN STRUCTURE.

It can be defined as a model that is structured to help identify which employes will be responsible for
specific points of the project .

OBS AS FUNCTION OF PROJECT MANAGEMENT .

As project management is used in several job and industries and requires knowledge , skills and abilities
to complete a task on project from beginning to end. So OBS becomes integral part of it.

OBS IN PRIMAVERA

PROCEDURE TO IMPLEMENT

1. Go to enterprise option from the Project Tab in the Menu Bar .

2. Select OBS from the dropdown option.
3. Edit the header \ title under which we will create the whole structure.
4. Select option to create new element.
5. Using the move option provided on the interface for industry and similarly we create the whole
structured table.
6. Display – Chart option for presenting the table.

EXAMPLE:-
RESULT:-

Created the OBS with the help of Primavera P6.

PRECAUTION:-

1. No physical precautions are to be taken.

2. Student to input entries with care to avoid the errors.

AIM: Understanding Enterprise Project Structure ( EPS) On Primavera P6

SOFTWARE USED : PRIMAVERA P6

THEORY:

Definitions Of EPS:

The enterprise project structure (EPS) represents the hierarchical structure of all project in the database.
the EPS can be subdivided into as many level or nodes as needed to represent work at your organization .

The number of EPS level and their structure depends upon the scope of your project and how you want to
summarize data.

PROCEDURE:

1. click Project in the Main Menu

2. On the project navigation bar, click EPS
3. on the EPS page:
a) select one EPS
b) click the action menu
a. -to add a sibling
b. -to add a child
c) Double click in the EPS/ project name field to enter a name for the new eps.
d) Click the actions
e) Add responsible manager at each step of the Enterprise Structure
4. Take a screenshot of the Chart view as well as the Table view
5. Paste the screenshot in the LHS of the file

PRECAUTIONS:

No physical precautions required
