New property tax assessment notices will be mailed to Valley County
taxpayers June 1st. Any taxpayer dissatisfied with the Department of Revenue
appraisal of his or her property may file an appeal of that valuation with the
Valley County Tax Appeal Board.
The Valley County Tax Appeal Board will be in session from July 1 through
December 31, 2022, for the business of hearing property valuation and
classification appeals. In order to file a timely appeal, the taxpayer must file
the appeal within 30 days of receipt of Notice to Change Valuation
(assessment notice) with a final deadline of July 6, 2022, if no
assessment notice is received.
Property tax appeal forms are available by contacting the Department
of Revenue at the Valley County Courthouse, or online at www.mtab.mt.gov.
For any questions, please call the Department of Revenue at 406-228-6236.
Appeals must be filed with the County Clerk and Recorder who will notify the
County Tax Appeal Board to schedule a hearing.
