American Heart Association- Go Red for Women

I had the opportunity of volunteering for the American Heart Association Go red for Women

Luncheon that was held at a beautiful hotel in downtown San Diego. Go Red for Women

encourages awareness of heart disease in women, and to save more lives with helping women

identify heart disease sooner than later. This movement gives women knowledge to stick

together and eliminate heart disease. It challenges them to know their risk for heart disease

and give them knowledge on how to reduce their personal risk. It also gives them the tools they

need to lead a heart healthy life.

This event was put together by the American Heart Association and my clinical site was

a sponsor in the event. The luncheon took place in the hotel ballroom that was decorated and

setup by volunteers. There was a silent auction and health expo for the guests as well. They

provided a fabulous lunch with entertainment that consisted of survivors and supporters of the

cause. My contribution was helping setup the ballroom with the chairs, linens, the yoga mat

each guest received and setting up the desserts on the table. A table was setup for COVID-19

screening that helped check guests in with proof of ID and vaccination status that I was helping

with as well. There was a photo booth area where guests could take fun pictures with props

that were provided by the vendor, that I helped put together and helped the guests take the

pictures and then give them a printout of the pictures they were taking. It was fulfilling to see

so many women come together for a positive and beneficial cause and to also have a good
time. Being a woman and knowing there is a so much support and information for something as

important as heart health helps women be more cautious about their health and how to

investigate issues if they arise. This was an expectational event that I was happy to volunteer

for.
