AUDITION & REGISTRATION INFORMATION

STEP 1: SIGN-UP MAY 26 - 31

EMYS will contact by email all dancers who auditioned, with the results of their audition, at the parent email address specified on the audition sign-up sheet in Step 1. Adjudication sheet will be mailed by the end of the summer to the mailing addresses also specified on the sign up sheet. STEP 6: REGISTRATION JUNE 27

There will be a sign-up sheet posted at the Yukon Arts Centre during Leaping Feats year-end recital, Dancing Through Life. All applicants must be going into grades 7 -12 with a minimum of 2 years previous dance training. Dont forget to include your current contact information! STEP 2: INFORMATION MEETING JUNE 1

Registration will take place at the studio on Monday, June 27, 2011 (time tba) Those students accepted into the program through the audition process who fail to register on June 27th may lose their spot in the program. Registration includes: Your first tuition payment of $280 (minimum), dated June 27, 2011. Nine post-dated cheques for the remainder of the tuition, at $280/month for 9 months, dated the 1st of each month, July 2011-March 2012.

All prospective and returning students must attend this meeting with at least one parent or legal guardian. Come find out more about our program and whats new in 2011-12! The fee of $100 per dancer is due at the Information Meeting, in the form of cash or cheque, made out to Extremely Moving Youth Society. Dancers who have not submitted this fee will not be permitted to audition. STEP 4: AUDITIONS JUNE 6 - 10

All participants will audition with 5 one-hour classes from Monday to Friday (1 class per day) at the following times: JPP: IPP: SPP: 4:00 5:00 PM 5:15 6:15 PM 6:30 7:30 PM

Each level will participate in one class each of ballet, jazz, modern, hip hop and creation.

ABOUT EMYS
EMYS was founded as a non-profit society in 1999 with a mandate to provide pre-professional training opportunities to local dance students. After eleven years later, EMYS Preprofessional Program has grown to include 10 hours of training per week in ballet, contemporary and jazz; choreography, workshops and intensives with nationally acclaimed guest artists each year; our annual hit fundraising show Go Nuts! Student Choreography Showcase and a trip every year to compete in a Dance Festival, or other similar events. EMYS students perform in the Leaping Feats Creative Danceworks annual spring school tours throughout Whitehorse elementary and secondary schools, at the Rendezvous Festival in February, LFCDs Dancing Through Life in May, and more. Program descriptions will be available at the Yukon Arts Centre throughout performances of Leaping Fests recital, Dancing Through Life. 3 Levels of EMYS
Through demand in the dance community, EMYS Pre-professional Program has been expanded from 24 students in two levels to 36 students in three levels. The addition of a third group in the EMYS program has accommodated 12 more young, talented and committed dancers: and ensures that all EMYS dancers are working at a level that is challenging for them. All three levels of the EMYS Preprofessional Program includes the same amount of classes and activities our program has become known for.

Audition Process and Fee

Our audition process involves 5 days of quality classes covering the full spectrum of techniques and practices that are part of our program. It includes detailed and comprehensive evaluations from each member of the adjudication team. We value providing serious dance students with such an opportunity for quality, individual feedback on their dancing, as well as the experience of auditioning; and we feel this is an integral part of any students artistic development. The costs associated with auditions over the last few years have made it necessary to charge a non-refundable audition fee of $100 per applicant.
