ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

I would like to thanks my Professor Dr. JYOTI SINGH who gave me such opportunity to do
this wonderful assignment in which we learn about the various key operations in the
manufacturing industry. The process they follow to produce their product and how they
manage their risk. We learn about their various variables like price, quality etc and how they
make strategies to tackle problems which occurs due to the changes in external environment.

A) INTRODUCTION
I am talk about manufacturing industry which produces different types of batteries. The name
of the industry is A STAR Batteries industry which is situated in P4 Focal point Banga Road,
Nawanshar.

 It is started in 2015 and only produces automobile batteries.

 In 2018 they expand their business produces different types of batteries.

They follow the wide structure and the whole works done on the basis of functional
departments.

SCOPE OF THE INDUSTRY

 They perform their task on interstate level.

 They produces IT batteries, Automobile batteries , Lead,DM water on their own.
 It is a small industry and try to established at national level.

B) KEY OPERATIONS

 As I discuss in scope they produces different types of batteries.

 Second key operations they performed is convert the hard lead into liquid form.

PROCESS

They produces lead and batteries own to produce this they follow the two steps. Let us
discuss one by one-

a) PROCESS OF PRODUCIND LIQUID LEAD

b) PROCESS OF BATTERIES

Change lead into plates one positve and second

negative.

Put into the box.

Fixed the material in box with the help of steel

rod.

Go for charging and fill distilled water.

Above are the processes the industry used to manufacture products.

C) RISK MANAGEMENT IN OPERATIONS

 Recently they face risk of less backup in batteries which impact on their production.
To tackle this check their whole process they find there is problem in lead due to the
bad quality of tin. They immediately starts working on it and improve the quality of
the tin. With this the production starts and gone in a steady way.
 They face risk of labour turnover. To tackle this they provide bonus, some fringe
benefits and increase their salaries.
 Third risk they face notice from Government of pollution. To tackle this they setup
the chimneys to control the air pollution.
D) SOME VARIABLES TO MEASURE EFFICIENCY
a) QUALITY
 As I discuss before they improve the quality of the lead by improving the
quality of tin.
 Provide better quality of batteries by improving the qualities of plates.
 Provide guarantee warrantee cards to consumers so that they touch with
them and have faith which helps in retain the people.
b) PRICE
 They charge reasonable price and offer discounts to their customers by
considering them how much they purchase.
 Following are the prices of their batteries one is the cheapest one and second is
the expensive one-
150AH A STAR – Rs. 7000 (8-9 hrs)
250AH A STAR- Rs. 11000 (15-16 hrs)

c) TIME
 The process that we discuss earlier that takes three to four days.(process of
converting hard lead into liquid lead).
 In one day the minimum produce 400-500 kilo grams of lead.
 In one day they produces 40-50 batteries with the ready material.
 They have their own showrooms and stores they provide the products in time in
the stores.
 They provide the delievry of products to consumers in time.
c) FLEXIBILITY
 They follow the process which is flexible in nature and if any defects occurs
they will take the precautionary measures.
 As I discuss they face the problem of backup they immediate takes the actions
to solve this.
 If the port is not work properly then they use traditional chulla for converting
the lead which shows the flexiblity in their production process.
d) WORKFORCE
 The labour and staff in the organization are very talented and flexible in
nature.
 They used different different technique to retain the employees in the
organization. By providing bonus ,increase salaries etc.
 In their organization the number of workers are 35.
e) GREEN IMPACT
 AS I said earlier they use chimneys to reduce pollution.
 They start using new technique to recycle the DM water so that again used it
because it creates hole in the land.
 They grow plants near their industry so that environment will be safe.
b) WHAT OPERATIONAL STRATEGY DUE TO CHANGE IN EXTERNAL
FACTOR-
 They face shortage in sale. To increase the sale they adopt the technique to reduces
the prices of the batteries. With this the sales increases and profit increases.
 In Covid-19 they don’t face such difficulty for production because government gave
the permission for production. The production sales goes in a regular way.
 But for the workers convenience they provide them shelter or groceries to them.

CONCLUSION

In the end I would like to say that with this research or study I am able to understand the
actual process of process and in how much time how much quantites of lead and batteries

they are able to produce. Besides this I learn how they tackle the problem if any occurs.
With the help of the study I am able to learn about about their quality of products, about

their models, pricing structures, what they do to control the pollution and how they
maintain the strategies to the external factors which affects the production process.
