“SOS” PROGRAM
Students at Risk of Dropping-out (SARDO), is a program by the Bureau of Secondary

Education (BSE) under the Department of Education (DepEd) central office. It aims to curb the high dropout
rates in public schools by offering alternative modes of education for students at the risk of dropping out
(SARDO). A “dropout” is defined by the DORP as a student who has stopped attending school before
completing the prescribed level of education within the specified school year. The dropout rate, meanwhile,
is the percentage of the students who drop out from a level of education in each school year, including those
who complete the school year but fail to enroll in the next. For others, drop out is the solution to conflicting
life pressures, the need to help support their family financially or the demands of taking care of their siblings
or their own child.

After long and thorough study, there are 29 SARDOs in Tictapul National High School as of June 2021. As
the evidence shown from the Pie Graph. The highest prevailing reason of the students is the lack of interest
which comprises the 45%. 17% of them says their financial problem discourses them to continue studies.
About 14% claims family issue/problem, 10% appeals early marriage . Whereas, distance of residence and
low academic performance received equal percentage of 7% amongst the 29 SARDOs.
As of June 2021, TNHS has one drop-out.
