1. Explain the importance of morality in our life.

Morality for me is defining what is the right and wrong thing to do.
It is simply the basis of our behavior whether it is classified as good or bad.
However, we have different beliefs, culture, and norms in our society.
Morality enables us throughout settling along with one another and
attaining unity in one community, in simple word, it maintains social order
this makes it important not just for ourselves but also to the group we
belong to. It is an unspoken rule that we base on how compassionate the
deed is. Morality is not obligatory for us to follow; however, it shows how
humane we act.

2. What are some elements of conventional morality that you think is

morally mistaken?

I have acquired more information about conventional morality that

is according to Lawrence Kohlberg’s theory, there are three degrees of
moral growth, each of which is divided into two phases. Kohlberg proposed
that person’s progress through these phases in a predetermined order, and
that moral comprehension is tied to cognitive growth. Preconventional,
conventional, and postconventional moral reasoning are the three levels of
moral reasoning. All of the said conventional morality sums up to a set of
commonly recognized norms and principles devised by humans that
members of a culture or community use to control their own lives and
evaluate the acts and intentions of others. I think the element of
conventional morality that I think is morally mistaken is how the society
determines what morally good and bad, it is proven that in every society,
unspoken moral rule can differ, thus somehow creating chaos among the
society we live in.

3. Do you agree with all of the starting points for moral thinking included
in the topic? Explain why.

I agree with all the fifteen starting points for moral thinking
provided in our topic. All of the concepts fit what my definition of morality.
Morality can fill those gap of whether it is really a good nor bad act since
we all have reasons behind it, for example in the first starting point which
explains that law can also be mistaken.

4. Explain the concept of Divine Command Theory.

The notion that things are right because God compels them to be
is known as divine command theory. In other words, things that are
considered bad or unethical are wrong because God forbids them. It is a
doctrine of absolute power. This indicates that there is no argument or
discussion about whether a particular behavior is correct or incorrect.
According to the divine command idea, an act or activity is either good or
harmful based on whether it supports God's orders or not. Any conduct that
goes against what God has instructed is sinful, regardless of the occasion
or scenario. The decision and conclusion will always be the same if you
take an absolutist viewpoint.
