How do you practice the qualities of being a follower?

Being a follower is not just about being the one who comes after with the plan of his leader, but it
comes with the qualities that matter on our productivity. Then there are some qualities of a follower
that should be practiced: self-management, commitment, competence and focus, and courage. So
let me discuss how I manage to practice these qualities in my own and known way.

A person before they became a follower they started to be leader also, not leader by others but
leader of themselves. So, self-management was one of the keys to govern ourselves and for me
practice it by thinking on what action I can do on my own with my freedom to decide. I dont always
allow others to decide what I should do but I allow them to give their opinions and after that assess
it then consider some of their ideas.

Having more things to be given of your attention will cause us to have no success, so being
committed will help us to achieve our desires. And to practice it, I will always go back to the time that
I became a leader. It reminds me that continuous reminders of leaders really help to change your
followers or members. So I always appreciate the effort of who is my leader by being responsive and
accommodating members or followers.

Joining a fight unarmed is like suiciding so it's better to be not only ready but also packed up with the
skills whenever we enter a fight or in an organization. Before I plan to be at a place or event I always
get myself aware of it where I study the basic do’s and don'ts and imagine applying it in a certain
situation. So in that way it makes me competitive and lessens the chances that I cannot catch up
with a particular thing.

Courage is the power to start a thing without hesitance and always ready to sacrifice. So in my inner
self i always say, what if i do that thing? What if I do not do that? Will it help me or leave me nothing?
In that way it boosts my morale and makes me decide to be with my courage and consider the
things I may get or benefit me. But it doesnt mean to rush things always, there are things that need
much to come it's time.

Good leader must always have a good follower and it also means that the follower practices the
essential qualities. And we as a follower should study and practice it continuously, in a thought that
we do it for better and not for personal profit. Remember that someday we will also become a leader
and it is better to start in becoming a good follower.
