Assume that your organization wants to hire new instructors for your project
management course. Develop a list of quality standards that you could use in
making this hiring decision. Suppose that some current instructors do not meet
these standards. Provide suggestions for how you would handle this situation.

The course instructor plays a major role in the success or failure of the employees in

their role on the job. The educationally qualified with training experience should be hired

for the project management course. Now day’s organizations are investing lot of time

and money for providing best training to the employees which can help the

organizations in the long run. The instructor is a critical make-or-break element in any

connected classroom and an element that can sometimes be undervalued when a

training program becomes too narrowly focused on the program's technology

(Rosenthal, 2012). The instructor is also known as facilitator who has to meet the need

of trainers in the diverse group undergoing training program.

The quality standards must be maintained for making the hiring decision. The lists of

quality standard we use in the selection process are:

 Instructor must be extremely well-qualified professional with academic degrees

and project management certifications.

 Instructor must have strong academic qualification background with valid

degrees from renowned universities.

 Languages known by the instructor and the frequency, by which he can speak,

read and write those languages. It will help the organization to send the instructor

to their global locations also for providing training.

 Instructor must have atleast 4-5 years and should hold a high-ranking positions

within a variety of industries where project managers work including IT,

manufacturing, and marketing

etc.

 Instructor should hold any post-doctoral fellowships or exchange position.

 Instructor should have written any books, articles, papers or any other piece of

work published by him.

 Instructor should have multitasking ability to manage all the task and mix of

technologies during the training program.

 Instructor should possess “sixth sense” that helps them to anticipate the

problems of the trainers during the training session.

 Instructor should possess skill to manage the glitches during the training

program. Experienced facilitators understand that they need a dry run of the

technology before the actual class begins so they can identify possible glitches in

advance. Facilitators who are able to think on their feet are the ones best able to

deal with glitches (Rosenthal, 2012).

 Instructor should have high level of skill sets to manage the virtual e-learning

trainings for the employees.

 Instructor should have a passion for teaching to make the sessions more

interactive with the trainers.

All these qualities the instructors should possess will help in improving the

organization’s standards of training and also improves the efficiency of the people in the

organization which will help them to perform well on their jobs.

The current instructor does not meet these standards in the organization. The instructor

should be given guidance about the skill set that need to be possessed to be a

successful instructor on the job. Along with the current instructor the new instructor

should be hired who possess all the quality standards and they both should work

together to maintain the training quality in the organization in order to ensure that the

training of the employees do not get impacted. The progress of the instructor must be

checked on a timely basis in order to ensure that he is able to meet the standards of the

instructor.

Search the internet for the term "IT outsourcing". Find at least two articles that discuss

outsourcing, whether beneficial or controversial. Summarize the articles and answer the

following questions in a two to three page paper:

Outsourcing is the lifeblood of IT. The prevailing theory is that outsourcing saves

companies money and enables them to engage a broader pool of IT skills and talent

than they could in-house.

Summary: The above article talks about how IT outsourcing is the most cost-effective

way for companies to hire qualified individuals for specific jobs without having to commit

to the significant cost or maintaining a year round in house team. IT outsourcing is also

good for companies which are in the midst of a launching campaign, product, or new

merger and need a large about of technical help in a small period of time.

the risks are the facts that some IT functions aren’t outsourceable, control may be lost

by the actual business, and employee morale may be affected. The benefits listed in

this article include freeing up working capital for core business functions, saving time

and money, and reducing risk. Overall, the article favors IT outsourcing, as the benefits

outweigh the risks.

● What are the main types of goods and services being outsourced?

○ The two main types of goods and services being outsourced are

Technology Services, which includes electronics/e-commerce and

information technologies and Business Processing Outsourcing, which

deal with finance and accounting, procurement and supply, customer

service/contact, and human resources.

● Why are the organizations in the articles choosing to outsource?

○ Organizations especially small and medium businesses simply don’t have

the budget to hire IT staff capable of managing any and all IT projects.

Some projects require specific skills, and outsourcing is a solution that

allows an organization to hire the best talent available only for as long as

it’s actually needed.

○ Another reason, organizations and businesses are choosing to outsource

because it allows them to continue with more important activities within

their organization without being hampered by other business functions that

they can outsource, which allows them to save time and accomplish more

tasks every work day. It is also important to note that outsourcing non-

essential business functions save businesses time and money. By

outsourcing non-essential business functions, companies also can free up

capital that can be spent on core business functions.

● Have the organizations in your articles benefited from outsourcing? Why or why

not?

○ Yes, the companies in our articles benefited from outsourcing. As stated

above, by outsourcing certain business functions it allows them more time

and capital to focus on more important activities and also allows them to

accomplish more tasks daily. Outsourcing IT needs reduces risk for non-

IT companies by allowing IT professionals with experience and a need to

keep up with the industry’s best practices handle the business’ IT

functions.
