With the launch of our new Deane Road campus, Bolton College is better placed than ever to exceed the expectations of our learners. We have over 400 courses to choose from - everything from Art classes to Hair & Beauty treatments, Computing & IT to Sports & Fitness options - available at one of our main centres or a learning centre near you from January 2011. Our practical courses enable learners to gain new skills, strengthen existing ones or take up a new challenge. Employees can choose from short to more extensive options; whilst adult learners and young people may consider anything from Beginners to Full Level 2 and 3 courses (many available for FREE or at reduced rates). Bolton Colleges five community learning centres offer a warm welcome in a friendly and supportive learning setting an environment that many adult learners prefer when returning to education after a period of time. By joining us youll be in the best of hands and well help you to boost your skills, improve your career prospects and make new friends in a positive learning environment. For most of our part-time courses all you need to do is walk in and enrol at one of the Learning Centres, on the dates and times shown in the table opposite. If the course you have chosen requires a pre-course interview, or if you need any additional information or advice from a tutor, then please call the Helpline :

What about costs?

Paying For Your Course: Once you have completed an enrolment form you will be asked to pay any fees that apply. You can pay by cash, cheque or credit/debit card. If your employer is paying your fees by invoice, you must bring proof of this on the employers letterhead or purchase order showing the complete address of where the invoice should be sent. If you are an Apprentice with another Training Provider, you should bring your National Insurance number and a letter confirming this, printed on their letterheaded paper. Instalments: You can pay by instalments for courses that have fees of over 100 (there is an administration fee of up to 25 charged for this option). Unfortunately, this option is NOT open for Income Generated Courses (courses identified with a sign), to Overseas Learners and courses of less than 3 months. Call the helpline on 01204 482000 for details or to check eligibility. Refunds: If a course is cancelled, or if there is an administration error made by the college resulting in an overcharge to the student, a full refund/overcharge element will be paid. Fee Exemptions (does not apply to courses with a sign next to them) You may not need to pay tuition fees at all if you fall into one of the following groups. Please bring the documents indicated with you to enrolment, as proof of your circumstances: Job Seekers Allowance Letter from the Job Centre. Income Support Most recent letter from the Benefits Agency. Employment & Support Allowance Letter from your Local Authority. Working Tax Credit Full letter with your payment award. Unwaged dependent of the above Full letter with your payment award. Asylum Seekers** - in receipt of income based benefits A photocopy of your current application for asylum and proof of any financial support you are receiving. The following groups of people may be entitled to a 50% discount on tuition fees: Widow(er) in receipt of Pension Letter detailing pension or bereavement allowance you receive. Over 60s Bus Pass, Birth Certificate, Passport or Driving Licence.
** If you have been resident in the UK for less than 3 years, you will need to bring your Home Office documents with you to enrolment, confirming that you have indefinite leave to remain. If you are unable to provide the documents, you may be asked to pay your course costs at enrolment.

Adult Learning Grants (ALG) If you are attending a full-time course, for a minimum of 12 hours a week, you may be eligible for financial assistance of up to 30 a week, depending on your financial circumstances. ALG is for learners aged 19 or over taking their first Level 2 or Level 3 qualification. Please contact Student Services on 01204 482182 for more information. Other help with costs The College seeks to help learners who are on a low income, or income-based benefits, with some of the costs associated with studying, e.g. childcare, equipment/kits and travel - through our discretionary Learner Support Fund. For further details, call Student Services on 01204 482191. Information, Advice & Guidance Talk to our friendly team of Student Services advisers for information on all aspects of studying - including course-progression, careers guidance or financial and childcare advice. Our advisers will be available at the Deane Road Student Services Centre during lunchtimes (12 noon 1pm) or call the team on 01204 482182 to make an appointment. Supporting your learning Our Student Support Team offers students a comprehensive range of services to help you achieve your full potential, whatever challenges you may face. Services include: supportive tutorials; help with planning and organising your work; specialist assessment of your needs; technical equipment support; communicator support; support with key skills or English Language, and advice on the best way to access additional help.
