Sem Grade

It is a part of the students’ education to learn responsibility and self-discipline, particularly with regards to academic honesty. The most important issue
of academic honesty such as cheating. Cheating is defined to include an attempt to defraud, deceive, or mislead the instructor in arriving at an honest
grade assessment. Moreover, plagiarism is a form of cheating that involves presenting as one’s own work the ideas or work of another. Below are also
Academic Honesty
other forms of academic dishonesty:

1. Copying from others on a quiz, test, examination, or assignment (“cheating”);

Page 11 of 14 NDDU-IG-F011
NOTRE DAME OF DADIANGAS UNIVERSITY
Marist Avenue, General Santos City

2. Allowing another student to copy one’s work on a quiz, test, exam, or assignment;
3. Having others take any exam instead of taking the exam oneself;
4. Buying or using a term paper or research paper from an internet source or other company or taking any work of another, even with permission,
and presenting the work as one’s own;
5. Excessive revising or editing by another that substantially alters the student’s final work;
6. Giving other students information that allows the student an undeserved advantage on an exam, such as telling a peer what to expect on a
make-up exam or prepping a student for a test in another section of the same class;
7. Taking and using the words, work, or ideas of others and presenting any of these as one’s own work is plagiarism. This applies to all work
generated by another, whether it be oral, written, or artistic work. Plagiarism may either be deliberate or unintentional, but it must be avoided at
all costs.

TO AVOID ACADEMIC DISHONESTY, ONE MUST:

Remember that ALL materials used, shared and downloaded in this class are subject to the intellectual property rights of Notre Dame Dadiangas
University. Thus, unauthorized uploading and sharing of these materials constitute violations to the rights of the university.

THEREFORE, all students should be guided that all portions of any test, project, or final exam submitted for a grade must be one’s own work, unless
instructed to work collaboratively. Specific requirements will be described for collaborative projects, but all work presented must be the work of members
of that group. Moreover, research materials used must be properly cited. Cheating in a major course of examination will entail a failing mark of F for the
given course. Cheating, dishonesty or plagiarism in papers and other works will entail zero (0) score for the said requirement. If a student is unclear as
to what constitutes academic dishonesty, he or she should consult the instructor.
