Term paper on Advanced Construction Procurement and Contract Management
General instructions
Objective of term paper
➢ The overall objective of the written assignment shall be to develop a deep
understanding about the conceptual background & the real application of
procurement & contact management. Besides, this Term paper shall be to
inform the students by establishing a link between the course item with
actually or potentially available literature and/or reading materials or
documents or standard contracts or laws or regulations; and of course, the
current practice of procurement & contract management process.
➢ All working groups are required to identify & review all relevant literature &
current practice supportive of their respective written assignment.
➢ All working groups are thus required to relate their respective research,
discussion & findings to such relevant literature factual data.
Structure of the Term paper
➢ All Term paper of all working groups shall, at least, have the following
items in their respective final table of contents:
✓ abstract;
✓ introduction;
✓ objective of the study & methodology;
✓ main body of the written assignment divided in different
chapters… (theoretical aspects of focus area each group is given)
case study or studies; as a chapter;
✓ conclusions & recommendation; as a chapter
conclusions; separately as a sub-chapter; NB: This part shall summarize the whole
substantive & main ideas of the Term paper.

or at least to minimize the occurrence of any such similar problems and the
enhanced application of some good practice under consideration, if any;

observe the rules of citation of research at the university level;
✓ any other items as the working group may deem necessary;
Case Study
➢ Each working group is expected & also encouraged to include in its Term
paper relevant actual construction project cases to support its analysis.
Format of the case study
Introduction

• Identify the key problems and issues in the case study.


• Formulate and include a thesis statement, summarizing the outcome of your
analysis in 1–2 sentences.

Background

• Set the scene: background information, relevant facts, and the most important
issues.
• Demonstrate that you have researched the problems in this case study.

Evaluation of the Case

• Outline the various pieces of the case study that you are focusing on.
• Evaluate these pieces by discussing what is working and what is not working.
• State why these parts of the case study are or are not working well.

Proposed Solution/Changes

• Provide specific and realistic solution(s) or changes needed.


• Explain why this solution was chosen.

Recommendations

• Determine and discuss specific strategies for accomplishing the proposed


solution.
• If applicable, recommend further action to resolve some of the issues.
• What should be done and who should do it?
