If freedom were free

I would write freely

I would write a poem about a Balinese woman

A woman who knows prison better than prisoners

A woman who hangs herself and fails

A woman who cries everyday and stays strong

A woman who gets blamed and remains calm

A woman who raises a family and dishes out black magic

A woman who does everything and gets nothing

If freedom were free

I would shut them up

I would write so much more, more than just a poem

I would write a history of our tears and anger

I would write a story of our real lives

I would write my own destiny

If freedom were free

I would burn all the disasters

I would burn the habits

I would burn all the bullshit

If only freedom were free

I would rise and speak before God

We are not free

We are not free

Free us

Free us

If only freedom were free

I would not be here
