‘making placement or injection of the grout easy.
‘= No metallic iron content to corrade and cause staining or
deterioration due to rust expansion in the grout
= Composition allows high early strength development in
‘routs, without the use of chlorides.
Description
Cebex 200 a plasticising and hydrogen free expansion grout
admixture is supplied as @ powder admixture. Cebex 200 al-
lows the use of a reduced water / cement ratio with consequent
increased strengths and durability. The expansive megium
‘counteracts the natural settlement and plastic shrinkage of the
‘grout and aids stabiliy and cohesion,

Properties
Chloride content Nilto BS : 5075
Compressive strength The plasticising action of Cebex 200 al-
lows reduction of the water/cement ratio of cementitious grouts
whilst maintaining flow properties. This gives improvement in
strength and long term durability when cured under restraint
Setting Time :Cebex 200 may slightly retard the setting timas
‘of cement based grouts depending on the cement and ambi-
cent temperature,
Expansion characteristics ‘The controlled positive expansion
in unset grouts incorporating Cebex 200 overcomes plastic
‘settlement when measured in accordance with ASTM C827.
‘An unrestrained expansion of upto 2% is typical
‘Time of expansion:1 minutes - 2 hours. Tempertures above
20°C may slightly reduce these times.
Compatibility : Cebex 200 is compatible with all types of
porland cement. Cabex 200 may be used in mixes containing
certain other Fosroc admixtures. Consult Fosroc for further
information.
Application instructions
mi
For best resulis a mechanically powered grout mixer must be
used. For quantiles upto 50kg a slow speed drill ited with
‘a high shear paddle is sultable, Larger quantities will require
‘high shear vane mixer. Its essential that machine mixing
capacity and labour availabiliy is adequate to enable the grout-
ing operation to be carried out continuously. This may require
the use of a holding tank with provision for gentle agitation to
maintain fluidity. The selected water content should be accu»
rately measured Into the mixer. Slowly add the cement and
Cebex 200. Mix continuously for 5 minutes, making sure that
‘a smooth even consistency is obtained,
Application
‘Areas to be grouted should be prepared to ensure substrates
are clean, sound, and then pre-wetted. The unrestrained sur-
{ace area of the grout must be kept to a minimum. Place the
‘grout as early as possible after mixing to gain the full benefit
of the expansion process. Adopt usual placing or pumping
procedures ensuring a continuous operation.
Curing
(On completion of the grouting operation, any exposed areas
which are not to be cut back should be thoroughly cured by
means of water application, Concure curing membrane or wet
Hessian.
Clean
Grouts mixed with Cebex 200 should be removed from tools
and equipment wth clean water immediately after use, Cured
material should be removed mechanically or with Reebaklens,

The storage, handling and placement of the grout must be in
strict accordance with the manufacturer's instructions,
Preparation
Foundation surface
‘Tho substrate surface must be free from oll, grease or any
loosely adherent material. Ifthe concrete surface is defective
cor has laitence, it must be cut back to a sound base, Boltholes
and fixing pockets must be blown clean of any dit or debris,
Pre-soaking
‘Several hours prior to placing, the concrete substrates should
bee saturated with frosh water.
Immediately before grouting takes place any free water should
bbe removed with particular care being taken to blow out all bolt
holes and pockets.
Base plate
Itis essential that this is clean and free from ol, grease or scale.
Air pressure relief holes should be provided to allow venting
of any isolated high spots.
Levelling shims
If these are to be removed after the grout has hardened, they
should be treated with a thi layer of grease.
Formwork
‘The formwork should be constructed to be leakproof. This
‘can bo achieved by using foam rubber strip of mastic sealant
beneath the constructed formwork and between joints
In some cases its practical to use a sacrificial semi-dry sand
‘and cement formwork. The formwork should include outlets
for pro-scaking,
page 2of4Conbextra GP2
Unrestrained surface area
This must be kept to a minimum. Generally the gap width
between the perimeter formwork and the plate edge should
not exceed 150mm an the pouring side and 0mm on the op-
posite side. It is advisable, where practical, to have no gap
at the flank sides.
Mixing and placing
Mixing
For best results a mechanically powered grout mixer should
be used. When quantities up to 50kg are used, @ heavy duty
slow speed dill (400-500 rpm fitted with a paddle is suitable.
Larger quantities will require @ heavy duty mixer
To enable the grouting operation to be carried out continu
ously it is essential that suffcient mixing capacity and labour
are available, The use of a grout holding tank with provision
to gently agitate the grout may be required
Consistency of grout mix
The quantity of clean water required to be added to a 25kg bag
to achieve the desired consistency is given below
Pourable 4.125 litres
Flowable 48 litres
The solocted water content should be accurately measured
into the mixer. The total content of the Conbextra GP2 bag
should be slowly added and continuous mixing should take
place for § minutes. This will ensure that the grout has a
‘smooth even consistency.
jacing
At 30°C. place the grout within 20 minutes of mixing to gain
full benefit of the expansion process,
Conbexira GP2 can be placed in thicknesses up to 100mm in
a single pour when used as an underplate grout,
For thicker sections itis necessaty to fil out Conbextra GP2
with well graded sil free aggregate to minimise heat build up,
Typically a 10mm aggregate is suitable. 50. 100% aggregate
by weight of Conbexira GP2 can be added

‘Any bolt packets must be grauted prior to grouting between the
substrate and the base plat.
Continuous grout flow is essential. Sufficient grout must be
prepared before starting, The time taken to pour a batch must
bbe regulated to the time to prepare the next one.
Typical hopper system
Removable hopper: Forlarge pours the grout may be hand
placed or pumped into @ removable hopper (trough)
20mm thick phywood
Sand formers
Pouring should be from one side of the void to eliminate any air
or presoaked water becoming trapped under the base plate. It
is advisable to pour the grout across the shortest distance of
travel. The grout head must be maintained at all imes so that
continuous grout front is achieved.
Where large volumes have to be placed Conbextra GP2 may
bbe pumped. A heavy duty diaphragm pump is recommended
for this purpose. Screw feed and piston oumps may also be
suitable,
curing
‘On completion ofthe grouting operation, exposed areas should
bbe thoroughly cured. This should be done by the use of Con-
cure WB curing membrane, continuous application of water
andlor wet hessian,

Limitations
Low temperature working
When the ar or contact surface temperatures are 10°C or below
(on a falling thermometer, warm water ( 30 - 40°C) is recom
mended to accelerate strength development,
For ambient temperature below 10°C the formwork should be
kept in place for at least 36 hours.
Normal precautions for winter working with cementitious materi-
als should then be adopted.
