FS9 ACTIVITY 9.

1 OBSERVE
Teacher presents via module about her intended
learning outcome regarding the topics
The teacher let the student to actively participating
from the class discussion and engage in educational
learning activities.
The teacher gives an opportunity to the students to
create and share their ideas regarding the topic and
discuss it in online class.
The teacher gives a group task activity where the
students are assigned to interpret the story by
creating, brainstorming ideas together with their
peer groups and debrief their final thoughts. The
students are happily to ask something to clarify,
cooperate each other, sharing of ideas, discussing,
and collaborate meaning to comprehend the texts.
ANALYSE

▪ Our resource teacher, as far as I can tell, promotes active learning. "Learning is a cooperative and collaborative process,"
where a student-centered approach is used in which the responsibility for learning is put on the student, who frequently works
in partnership with peers. She is a facilitator of information rather than a one-way source of information. The presenting of
facts, which is commonly done through direct lecture, is being stressed in favor of class discussion, cooperative learning, and
writing assignments (graded and ungraded). One of the teachers I observed does, in fact, put these concepts into practice. I
wouldn't say all of them, but I'd say the majority of them. This can be signifies how her learners reacts from the way she
teach, and the way learner’s enjoy her class. For the learners, skills and abilities are not one day growth; it is a step by step
process.

▪ The learning principle that was applied least from all the principles is the, “Learning is the discovery of personal meaning and
relevance of ideas”. In this situation, Most of the time the teacher used up by explaining and sharing thoughts regarding the
topic. Mostly of the class was being done by the teacher herself. This situations somehow contrast to a teacher who mostly
facilitates with the learning for the students and they, the students, are the one who gives some ideas about a certain topic.

▪ Any educational strategy that engages students in the learning process is considered an application. In brief, it necessitates
that students engage in meaningful learning activities and reflect on their actions. While conventional tasks such as homework
may be included in this definition, in reality, active learning refers to activities that are incorporated into the classroom.
Student participation and engagement in the learning process are fundamental to these learning concepts. The typical lecture, in
which students passively acquire knowledge from the lecturer, is sometimes contrasted with active learning. Interacting with
knowledge through active learning offers several significant advantages over traditional lecture delivery modes. It aids in the
retention of student attention and the development of higher-level abilities such as critical thinking. It also aids in the
engagement of students who would otherwise struggle. This does not mean that oral lectures should be eliminated; rather, other
ways of engaging with the topic should be integrated at regular intervals during the lecture.

REFLECT

▪ For me, it is “Learning is active process” that relied more on native understanding than a common definition. Consequently,
many faculty assert that all learning is inherently active and that students are therefore actively involved while listening to
formal presentations in the classroom. Students must do more than just listen: They must read, write, discuss, or be engaged in
solving problems. Most important, to be actively involved, students must engage in such higher-order thinking tasks as analysis,
synthesis, and evaluation. Within this context, it is proposed that strategies promoting active learning be defined as
instructional activities involving students in doing things and thinking about what they are doing.

ANALYZE

● In my opinion, SMART objectives truly assist the lesson become more focused because when such SMART learning objectives
are implemented, teachers are led in terms of reaching the targeted learning outcomes or what they anticipate from the
students.

REFLECT

● The teacher begins by presenting the learning objectives or planned results that are matched with his/her lesson
presentations. All activities and subject matter content are designed to achieve the desired learning outcomes. There are also
SMART in lesson plans, which provide detailed answers to the questions "what is to be done?" "How will you know it is done?"
and identify the outcomes (final product) of the work to be done. It describes the objective in measurable ways (quantity,
quality, frequency, costs, deadlines, etc.). It refers to the degree to which something may be compared to a standard. These
items included in the SMART objective if they will be a factor in the achievement. All of his teaching strategies and other
aspects are relevant and interconnected. An objective has end points and check points built into it.

the students to easily cope with the lesson.

During the class discussion, the teacher encourages students to actively engage. During the class discussion, the teacher
allows students to relate their previous experiences to the topic and attempts to tie it to the new notion for the
discussion.
The teacher made couple of questions related to the subject matter which she asked the learners regarding their ideas
and thoughts about it.
She presented the lessons with appropriate varied examples together with audiovisuals that are related to the subject
matter which enables the learners or students to level up their cognitive thinking.
After the students absorbed the learnings, she asked on how they will used it in their real life scenarios or in the new
future.
The teacher is fair to all the students where no bias at all. She wanted her all students to actively participating both in
class discussion and learning activities regardless of their diversities.
She gave activities that requires working together, like partners activities.
She is the teacher who uses varied lesson to integrate it and connect to the subject matter wherein the students may

ANALYZE

 The students will be confined to the four walls of the classroom, and their learning will not extend to the actual world since
they will be overwhelmed with concepts but will not be able to apply them. Students will study just for the sake of exams, and
what the instructor has taught will be readily forgotten.

 If I were to reteach, I would use the teacher-centered approach to encourage and motivate the entire class to participate
actively in class discussions and learning activities. I would provide positive reinforcement by recognizing their responses, which
may encourage them to participate more.

RELECT ARTIFACT

 Principles of teaching is worth applying because it explain educational processes. They show how things are done and how
educational results are achieved. For the individual, a principle, when it is understood and accepted, serves in important ways to
guide his reflective thinking and his choice of activities or actions.
My resource teacher doesn’t have lesson plan but she have module for her lessons with learning outcomes.

FS10 10.1 OBSERVE

The teacher showed a video clip of a “parabula” as an example. She explained to the students what she wanted them to understand and what she
wanted to teach them. The teacher allows students to participate by allowing them to share their opinions in class concerning their prior knowledge of
the topic area.
With the assistance and incorporation of technology in education, students are able to cope with the material effortlessly. This improves their
cognitive level in terms of how things are done.
Students learn quickly in their own time. They were able to complete the lesson with the use of technology and a teaching technique in which the
instructor is approachable while dealing with all of the students' questions. A feedback period will bridge the gap between each student and help them
address their learning deficits.
She also asked the learners to recall information’s and she also asked them about comprehension.
The teacher inquired of the students as to the significance of technology in their everyday life in terms of study, communication, and so on. She
relates it to the learner's day-to-day activities in this new normal learning.
Some of the topics covered by the teacher are generalized. She highlighted the most significant facts and ideas from the class to minimize
misunderstanding and ensure that the students understood it correctly.
ANALYZE

 The best teaching method, in my opinion, combines a range of tactics with students' multiple intelligences, student-centered learning, and a dash of
discovery learning. A teacher should begin a lesson with something important that will pique the students' interest and entice them to want to learn
more from where he or she brings them into the substance of the lesson. Following some basic information and instructions, the teacher discontinues
direct instruction and passes authority to the class, allowing them to handle their own learning.

RELECT

 Effective teaching entails selecting strategies that are most suited to your teaching objectives and students. Because students learn better, it is
frequently helpful to utilize a variety of strategies within a specific class, as well as a number of different learning activities and assignments in class.

10.2 OBSERVE

◊ She presents the particular targeted learning outcomes to the subject matter in class to share her learning objectives. She starts her discussion with
how she asked questions to the class and with her discussion.

◊ She shared a story with the students. She encouraged the students to share their thoughts or comments about the story presented in the video. I
believe she has met some of her objectives since the students can answer her questions.

◊ The teacher prepares a written test by delivering the story guide questions that must be answered. It connects to the lesson she is addressing, thus it
is relevant to her objectives. When it comes to learning activities and assessment, her whole teaching method is linked with the targeted learning
outcomes or objectives.

ANALYSE

◊ OBTL allows us to be more internationally competitive since it explicitly determines genuine education wherein students may execute their
learnings through performance-based learning. This learning is valuable to students since they may apply it in real-life circumstances. Students might
use this OBTL to keep track of their progress and determine whether or not this field is a good fit for them. Teachers may deliver more systematic
learning experiences to students with OBTL, resulting in higher-quality education.
RELECT

◊ Outcome-based Teaching and Learning (OBTL) is a student-centered education strategy in which the program's targeted learning outcomes for
students to attain are explicitly established. Then, teaching and learning activities are carefully planned to help students attain these outcomes. This
implies that everything teachers do must be very clear in terms of what they want students to know, understand, and be able to accomplish. In other
words, teachers should focus on assisting students in developing the knowledge, abilities, and personalities that will enable them to attain the clearly
specified planned objectives. Which refers to the process of creating a learning environment that facilitates the learning activities necessary to
achieve the intended learning outcomes. The term "constructive" relates to what the student does to create meaning through relevant learning
activities. The term 'alignment' relates to what the teacher performs. The key to alignment is that the teaching system components, particularly the
teaching techniques employed and the assessment tasks, are linked to the learning activities envisaged in the intended results.

ANALYZE

□ In the classroom settings, teacher questions are defined as instructional cues or stimuli that convey to students the content elements to be learned
and directions for what they are to do and how they are to do it. The teacher must always put in mind that the knowledge and skills used in asking
different types of questions in a classroom is one important but critical aspect of the teaching and learning process. This quote has something to do
with the types of questions because this quote by Neil Postman describes effective questioning techniques that may affect to the learners. That
through correct and appropriate questioning and reacting to the learners ideas and opinions, we can encourage and develop their activeness that could
increase their performance level to the class as well as the increase of thinking skills of the students engaged in the classroom.

REFLECT

□ Using various reacting techniques feature very importantly in the instruction process. If teachers have so far been using questioning to check on
students’ class work and homework, follow up and summarize lessons, and assess students’ learning. They now realize what verbal questioning can
do: motivate students to pay attention in class and learn, promote their thinking skills, energize them to inquire and explore independently, and
enhance their knowledge base.

ARTIFACTS
What I learned in this episodes by interviewing teachers on their thoughts on OBTL are:

1. For information processing at a higher level, which types of questions should you ask more?
High level questions call for higher – order thinking ability. “Why” and “how” questions require analysis of observations. This type of questions
enable the students to think more and it employ more on critical thinking skills.

2. Which types of questions was/were most asked?
Low level questions demand low level responses. They required responses of the simple recall or memory types of answers. These type of question
are aligned to route learning wherein students are able to retrieve certain information from the previous.

3. Which types of question were least asked?
Mostly on high levels order thinking ability such as why and how questions employ critical thinking skills.

4. Which questioning techniques were most employed? least employed?
Low level questions demand low level responses were most employed while high level questions call for higher – order thinking ability. “Why” and
“how” are least employed from the class.

5. Which reacting techniques were most commonly used? least commonly used?
Reacting techniques were most commonly used are the following: 1) providing feedback, 2) giving appropriate praise to high quality responses, 3)
following up a student’s response, 4) explaining the question, 5) rephrasing the seemingly unclear question while least commonly use are: 6) showing
non – verbal encouragement, 7) re – directing the question to other students, 8) soliciting students’ questions to satisfy curiosity.

The Learning Resource Center of Colegio de la Purisima Concepcion is a big considering that the population of the school is about 1,000. With
regards to the available resources, I believe that they are appropriate and suitable for high school and college students.
ANALYZE

 The Librarian is in charge of the learning resource center's care and maintenance. It also functions as her office. All other items are appropriately
organized in the library for use by all students and faculty members. When utilizing them, young students sometimes get a little boisterous. As a
result, I propose that students be taught responsible handling of all learning resources available in the learning resource center at the start of the
semester.

 With regards to the use of the resources especially the microphones, speakers, and projectors, these things are properly monitored. There is a
borrower’s slip where the teachers who want to borrow the material sign up, indicating the date they will return the material. This is especially
important to prevent loss of these learning materials.

 Through the efforts of the teachers, the main strength of the learning resource center is its attractiveness to the students. A lot of pictures and rules
are posted on the walls, serve as learning materials to the students. The ICT resources are properly maintained as well.

 The main weakness is its small physical size. The growing number of students makes it difficult for them to fit in the learning resource center.

 Since the students have their own classrooms, I suggest that they take turns in using the learning resource center. They may be able to do it by
grade level. To prevent utilizing it as an extended classroom, I further recommend that teachers take turns monitoring the learning resources center. It
should be favorable to learning, thus I'm hoping courses will not be held there.

REFLECT

 In the learning resource center, it is the new Smart TV that has been installed. The screen is large enough for the students to see, and it may be
linked to a computer. They appear to be incredibly convenient for teachers, in my opinion. Because extra clips are available online, the creation of
visual aids can be reduced.

 Except for the Smart TV, I believe that I am already confident in using all other learning materials available in the learning resource center. I
usually bring my laptop for my activities and papers.
 I believe the Smart TV, the emerging trend in technology and education. The learning environment can become interactive in a way that students
are encouraged to participate in classroom discussions. It attracts the attention of the students making both teaching and learning effective.

and as the main visual aid in the whole class. The learners tend are impress on the visuals used by the resource teacher in her class discussion and it is
very obvious that it really caught their attention for it is seen in their eyes that they are very eager in listening to their teacher. It is clearly seen in the
face and reaction of the students that they were amazed at the technology their teacher used, which is the laptop and projector, for most of them tend
to listen and focus their attention on their teacher and on the projected power point presentation on the board.

▪ Based on the Technology Integration Matrix provided by the book, the resource teacher attained the following levels: entry, adoption, adaptation, infusion, and
transformation. For the resource teacher used the technology, which are the laptop and projector from the very beginning of her class starting from prayer and
presentation of objectives, afterwards, she let the students to manipulate and operate the technology alone to explain some part of the lesson and instead of just merely
receiving information from the technology, the resource teacher let the students to discuss the topic by themselves and to raise questions to their classmates which
eventually, when the classmate asked didn’t answer the question correctly, she manage to answer it. After that, the resource teacher let the students to use the
technology, which is a laptop, to identify the element of the “Parabula” in Microsoft Office Word” to be passed on their next meeting.

▪ Based on the Technology Integration Matrix, the characteristic of the learning environment in the class that I had been observed was “Goal Directed.” In “Goal
Directed” the students use technology tools (hand-outs, slide presentation) to set goals, plan, activity, and monitor progress and evaluate results rather simply
completing assessments without reflections. As I had been observed, after individual activity, the teacher provided immediate feedbacks which in turns the students
will give their defense and opinion how they arrive their answers. The teacher is open to the original ideas of the students even if it is not based on the class discussion.
The teacher encourages his students to think outside the box and to go on the realm of creativity and imagination.

▪ Overall, I must say that the resource teacher executes the learning resources well and effectively for the students tend to collaborate and cooperate in her discussion
and they tend to focus their attention on the projected power point presentation projected on the board. My only suggestion is that next time, it is more advisable to use
animation on the text that needs to get emphasized and also, use more images if possible.

REFLECT

▪ If I am the teacher; I will copy his zeal and mastery in manipulating laptop and computer projector in the class for the smoothness of her lesson. I
appreciate and like her method in giving the students hand-out during class discussion. Her method is fast, sweep, accurate and modern; it facilitates
students learning in an optimum level. The way she handles her class is anchored with the philosophy that the students are the center of the
curriculum so do I.
One thing I would used different in doing the same class is that; I will already downloaded the video on YouTube, because during her presentation;
the video in YouTube got logged and pause for awhile. There is a slight break on the momentum of his discussion because of slow internet
connection in our country. But, overall the performance of the teacher is very good and ideal for the education student like me.

The important concepts that the teacher emphasized are:
 Ang Sanaysay
 Ang element ng sanaysay
 Kaligirang Kasaysayan ng Sanaysay

ATMOSPHERIC SCIENCES

National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL)

- NPTEL is a curriculum building exercise and is directed towards providing learning materials in science and engineering by adhering to the
syllabi of All India Council for Technical Education and the slightly modified curricula of major affiliating Universities

-The National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL), a project funded by

the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), provides e-learning through online Web and Video courses in Engineering, Sciences,
Technology, Management and Humanities.

- Engineering courses and an institution where it is taught is something that can’t be seen easily and so this MOOC creates accessibility toward
further study in engineering and related courses.

● MOOCs have helped me recognize, as a future teacher, that technology has a significant impact on our lives as well as our learning. MOOCs allow
us to discover new things that will aid us in our teaching-learning process. It is more convenient for me as a prospective teacher to obtain material,
and it also helps me to improve my computer abilities through researching online learning through MOOCs. It is an instructional course content that
may be very beneficial to the students if used. As a lifelong learner, MOOCs enable me to provide students with the opportunity to receive a high-
quality education. The information I will get through MOOCs will assist me to become a more informed person, which I will share with my future
students eventually. It also aids in my preparation for my future vocation. I want to use it in my regular teaching to help my students get a better
education.

● One of the things I learned from the way the providers used technology to educate in the Massive Open-Online Courses (MOOCs) was that
technology allows many individuals to get an excellent education. Also, distance is no longer an impediment to learning, thanks to technological
advancements and, at the same time, MOOCs. MOOCs are more convenient for people who have a busy work schedule and are unable to attend
school because they are online courses that are open to a large number of people. Anyone with an internet connection can access this course from
anywhere in the world. Despite the fact that the courses are online, the group members create a learning community by interacting with one another.
MOOCs provide their participants with the opportunity to test their knowledge of the topics that they addressed, much as in a classroom setting,
except this time it will be done online. Through the use of technology, they also give feedback on the performance of their participants.

● I will prepare myself for Massive Open-Online Courses (MOOCs) as a learner by trying to use this course. To understand more about this course, I
will look at MOOC providers such as Coursera, Edx, Udacity, Udemy, Iversity, and others. I will get acquainted with their programs as a result of my
exploration of these courses. MOOCs will not be difficult for me to attempt. After attending these courses, I prepared myself for the future instructor
who may eventually teach a MOOC by continuing utilizing it. By that time, I assure to myself that I will improve more my skills to be more an
effective facilitator. So, that I will help my help my future students effectively to learn. For me the learning experience of online learning and
traditional are just the same. The only difference between the two are just a place. They are both helping the participants or learners to learn in
different ways of learning. To make it short, it is not hard to become prepare for MOOCs because it is just like traditional but now through using
technology.

3. Technology and education are pretty intertwined these days and nearly every teacher has a few favorite tech tools that make doing his or her job
and connecting with students a little bit easier and more fun for all involved. Anything related to technology, new tools are hitting the market
constantly and older ones rising to prominence, broadening their scope, or just adding new features that make them better matches for education,
which can make it hard to keep up with the newest and most useful tools even for the most tech-savvy teachers. In the website there have some that
are becoming increasingly popular and widely used, that should be part of any teacher’s tech tool arsenal this year, whether for their own personal
use or as educational aids in the classroom.
4. I have learned that by using design thinking as a framework for instruction, we will explore the possibilities for students to engage in empathy,
seek new problems to solve, then prototype and test their solutions. When students start to create material for a larger audience, they ultimately need
a way to make their ideas into physical realities. There they will look at the pedagogy and the process to help make that happen.

ANALYZE

◊ Teacher should find out if students understand the lesson while teaching is in progress so that the students will have knowledge or understanding
about the lesson for her/his future. If there’s no understanding then I will be just waste of time for both the students and teachers.

◊ Because sometimes there are students who lie and do not pay attention to the class even they don’t understand anything.

◊ Yes, to monitor student learning to provide ongoing feedback that can be used by instructors to improve their teaching and by students to improve
their learning. More specifically, formative assessments: help students identify their strengths and weaknesses and target areas that need work.

◊ For me, it is Interview assessments, a technical and structured interview used to assess a candidate's skills, knowledge, and abilities. A credentialed
faculty member will evaluate learning on responses given during a structured interview on the course learning outcomes.

◊Peer tutoring allows for higher rates of student response and feedback, which results in better academic achievement. It also creates more
opportunities for students to practice specific skills, which leads to better retention. The student tutor gains a deeper understanding of a topic by
teaching it to another student.

◊ YES! Many educators and experts believe that formative assessment is an integral part of effective teaching. In contrast with most summative
assessments, which are deliberately set apart from instruction, formative assessments are integrated into the teaching and learning process. Formative
assessments are commonly contrasted with summative assessments, which are used to evaluate student learning progress and achievement at the
conclusion of a specific instructional period—usually at the end of a project, unit, course, semester, program, or school year. In other words,
formative assessments are for learning, while summative assessments are of learning.

 It makes the line between formative and summative so much clearer. When a cook tastes the soup, she is primarily interested in getting
information that will help her know if she needs to modify the soup before it is done and cannot be changed. By the time the customer eats the
soup, it is done and no changes can be made by the cook. The important takeaway is that they both taste the soup for different reasons.
 Yes, Record keeping is an essential aspect of grading and formative assessment. Each student's entries should identify the student's current
proficiency level with each target and its criteria. A consistent record keeping system is essential for grading reliability. Using formative
assessments, you must keep track of the data that you collect. The easiest way to observe and assess student growth is to walk around your room
with a clipboard and sticky notes. As you notice acquisition of a new skill or confusion and struggle with a skill, record the student's name and
jot down a brief comment.

For example, the questions by the resource teacher about the story of “Alibughang anak” :
 Kung ikaw ang ama sa parabula ibibigay mo ba ang iyong ari-arian sa iyong anak kahit ikaw ay buhay pa? Bakit?
 Makatarungan ba ang ginawa ng ama ang pagtanggap sa kaniyang anak na muling nagbalik?
 Kung ikaw ang nasa katayuan ng ama, ganoon din kaya ang iyong gagawin? Ipaliwanag.
