Academic Procrastination became one of the
most common habits every student experienced
once in their academic life. Since students
nowadays are stuck with new academic system,
the number of students who procrastinate on
daily basis has risen. Procrastination often refers
as student syndrome. It is to be slow or late
about doing something that needs be done in a
certain time. Students should not practice this
kind of habit in daily basis.
The researchers aim to pursue this topic because
we wanted to study about how can
procrastination affect the students’ academic
performance. Also, as researcher we would like
to know and understand the insights of the
Senior Highschool Students from Asian College of
Technology Bulacao Campus. If both researchers
and participants share the same idea, opinions
and experiences we are able to connect with
them and we may have a successful study
The purpose of this research was to know and
understand the perception of the Senior High
school Students from Asian College of Technology
towards The Prevalence of Academic
Procrastination Among Students and its Causes
and Effects.
The study could provide information regarding
the perception of senior high
students in ACT Bulacao Campus towards the
danger of Academic procrastination. The
study could be considered significant to the
following: school, Senior High School Student and
Future Researcher

regarding the bird’s-eye view of the topic which is
commonly unknown for many. This is also an
opportunity to dig deeper and know more about
procrastination that sounds usual to the

Dr. Piers Steel addresses procrastination to be
one of fundamental human behaviors. It is also a
current and disastrous management in this time
due to its self-failures. Neuroticism,
rebelliousness, and thrill seeking have only a
weak relationship to procrastination, according to
a meta-analysis of procrastination's possible
causes and outcomes based on 691 correlations.
According to Steel, task aversion, task delay, self-
efficacy, and impulsiveness, as well as
conscientiousness and its components of self-
control, distractibility, organization, and
accomplishment drive, are all significant and
consistent indicators of procrastination. "Further
research into procrastination should not be
overlooked, especially because its incidence
appears to be on the rise" (Steel, 2007).
The study will only discuss the perception and
opinion of the selected senior high
students enrolled in ACT College Bulacao
Campus. It will not include the perception of
the college department, faculty, or even the
school administration and its staff. The
study will only focus on the subject which is
procrastination, specifically, “Academic
Procrastination”, among the students of ACT
College – Bulacao Campus.
The researchers chose the descriptive approach
as their research strategy since it
allows them to observe regular behavior without
changing it. Data on the state of the
study's subject was gathered.
The primary respondents for this research are the
Senior High School Students from Asian College
of Technology Bulacao Campus that are compose
of the following strands: HUMSS-Humanities and
Social Sciences STEM-Science, Technology,
Engineering and Mathematics ABM-Accountancy,
Business and Management TVL-HE- Home
Economics and TVL-ICT-Information
Communications and Technology. We decided to
conduct a survey among our fellow Asianista
considering that they are suitable since many of
us encountered academic procrastination and as
a young adult they usually consider it as a normal
habit before doing their school works
