ANSWER

Question 1(a)
Question 1(b)

Dehydration can be used to recover oil from an emulsion. Dehydration of crude oil is based on the density
difference between oil and water. Crude oil dehydration begins with the breakdown or weakening of the
stabilising coating, followed by the coalescence of water droplets, and lastly the settling of water. Drops
in the dehydrator's bottom (gravitational settling). There are 3 options available. Heating, chemical
treatment, and other methods are used to weaken and rupture the stabilising coating (demulsifier), or
with the help of electrical devices (vibration). Small water droplets will form when the stabilising coating
ruptures. The larger water droplets coalesced to generate larger water droplets, which eventually landed
at the bottom of the dehydrator. Meanwhile, oil is being transported to the next processing plant.
Question 2 (a)

TYPE MAX WATER DEPTH

Fixed Jacket 150 m
Tension Leg Platform 2000 m
Floating, production, Suitable for wide range
storage, and offloading of water depths (Chen
(FPSO) and Perez, 2020)

The comparison is inappropriate since the information on the topic of interest is insufficient. Aside from
sea depth, facts such as profitable extractable hydrocarbon, Area of Interest (secluded or near onshore),
and weather conditions are needed to determine the optimal oil platform. As a result, FIXED JACKET is the
optimal oil platform choice based solely on the information provided on water depth.
Question 2(b)

Production Platform Drilling Rig

A permanent offshore structure for drilling or Refers to the well-drilling rig on the platform. A
producing oil. The oil will be brought to the drilling rig is a machine that is used to make holes
surface at the production platform once the in the earth.
drilling rig has finished digging a hole for
additional oil and gas processing.
