ABOUT THE COLLEGE
Government Engineering College Thrissur (GEC
Thrissur), an ISO 9001: 2008 certified institution,
is one of the most prestigious and reputed tech-
nical education institution in south India. The Col-
lege was established in the year 1957 with under
graduate programmes in Civil, Mechanical and
Electrical engineering branches. The foundation
stone of the college main building was laid down
by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. The college campus
spread over an area of more than 75 acres is locat-
ed at Ramavarmapuram, about 5 km from Thris-
sur city. Today, the institution has made substan-
tial progress by way of offering eight undergradu-
ate, twelve post-graduate and doctoral pro-
grammes in different disciplines. All the UG and
majority of the PG programmes are accredited by
National Accreditation Board. The start-up initia-
tive of the Technology Business Incubator func-
tioning in the college is growing at a great pace
with more than ten start-up organization at pre-
sent.
ABOUT DEPARTMENT OF ELECTRICAL
ENGINEERING
The Department of Electrical Engineering started in
the year 1958 and offers B-Tech Degree in Electrical
Engineering, M-Tech Programmes in Power Systems
and Power Electronics. It is an approved research cen-
tre of Calicut University and also a QIP centre of
AICTE. There are 32 faculty members and more than
40 research scholars in the department.

ABOUT „TEQIP‟
Technical Education Quality Improvement Pro-
gramme (TEQIP-Phase II) of Government of India
aims to improve the quality of Technical Education
in Engineering Institutions across the country. To
improve the quality, TEQIP facilitates programmes
for modernization of Labs/Library, networking of
institutions, interaction with industries, research de-
velopment etc.

 Advanced PWM techniques
 Challenges in Large scale RE integration
 Advanced Motor Drive Schemes for EV Ap-
plications
ELIGIBILITY
Faculty members from Engineering Colleges, prac-
ticing engineers from industry, and M Tech/
Research scholars are eligible to apply for the
course. A preliminary knowledge in the area of pow-
er electronics is desirable for the course. The course
will be held online through Google meet.
COURSE FEE
There will not be any course fee for participants
from Govt. / Govt. Aided institutions. Participants
from Self-financing Institutes can attend by paying a
course fee of Rs. 500/‐. The payment can be done
through Google Pay to any one of the coordinators.
ABOUT THE COURSE
The world has been witnessing a dramatic change in
the electrical infrastructure and mobility since the
introduction of successful electrical vehicles by Tes-
la Motors in the last decade. The enabling technolo-
gy behind electric vehicles and modern power sys-
tems is power electronics. The course will deal with
recent advances in the fascinating area of power
electronics. The number of participants is limited to
hundred and e-certificates will be provided to all par-
ticipants.
