“Abrasive engine wear can be substantially reduced with


an increase in filter single pass efficiency.
Compared to a 40 micron filter, engine wear was reduced
by 50% with 30 micron filtration. Likewise, wear was
reduced by 70% with 15 micron filtration.
Controlling abrasive contaminants in the range of 2
to 22 microns in the lube oil is necessary for
controlling engine wear.”

EFFECTS of SLUDGE
• Oils fail because the
dispersant package is no
longer capable of keeping
the soot in suspension

• As soot agglomerates and falls out. It then forms sludge


and interferes with the desired functioning of the oil. It also
becomes somewhat abrasive in the system.
• Removing sludge forming materials from the system
allows oil to perform effectively for longer periods.
