Before lifting, ensure that lifting machines, tools &

tackles are inspected, tested and certified by third
party competent person (TPI). ID No.& SWL of
machines, tools and tackles must be marked/
punched. Only certified & color coded Lifting tools &
tackles shall be used. Load/Pipe/material (s) shall be
clearly marked with their weight before lifting and
supervisor must select correct capacity of lifting
system for the handling. Use Lifting Machines, Tools &
Tackles with sufficient strength having capacity at
least of 125% of actual load to be lifted. Ensure that in
no case total load to be lifted is more than SWL of
lifting machine/ tool/ tackle.

Proper packing to be provided to protect from sharp

edge.

Ensure hook is having latch to prevent slings or load
from accidentally slipping off the hook. Hooks that
have cracks or have more than 15% in excess of
normal throat opening or more than 10% twist from
the plane of the unbent hook should be replaced .

Use minimum 2 guide ropes to control load swinging.

While engaging /disengaging lifting gears over the

load riggers shall keep safe distance to prevent being
hurt by the sling / shackle/ load fails.

Use of adequate PPE's shall be ensured.

Check clearance before setting crane

Signal man with florescent jacket must be available

with hydra, crane and trailer operation.

Keep away personnel from load swing area.
