Name A Glimpse at the Future Foreshadowing is the use of clues to suggest what is going to happen in a story. W. W. Jacobs uses a great deal of foreshadowing in “The Monkey's Paw.” It adds to the suspense of the story. On the lines below, explain why each of the following story events is an example of foreshadowing, 1. When the story opens, the night is cold and wet, and a strong wind is blowing. 2.
