A vessel age is considered from when the keel was first laid; however, a vessel age is considered from date of delivery as
long it doesn’t exceed 2 years.
Vessel must undergo Dry docking & UWILD before commencement of a contract.
Vessel shall be maintained to class requirements and all certifications maintained to date.
Vessel shall have the originals of all required certification available onboard for inspection and whilst in service.
BRAKE HORSE POWER (BHP) is considered at 100% maximum continuous rating (MCR).
Service speed is considered to be at 85% MCR, loaded to SUMMER LOAD LINE (S.L.L)
Generators: Must have a minimum of 2 Gensets onboard capable of being paralleled and synchronizing for change over.
they must have Auto start capabilities.
“Crash stop” capability: All vessels shall be capable of going from full ahead at 100% MCR (Maximum continuous rating)
to being stopped from forward movement within 60 Seconds.
Gauges & Indicators: All Main Engines shall be provided with adequate monitoring alarm (Visual & Audible) along with
emergency shutdown systems.
Digitalization: Contractor shall provide a ship management smart digital solution (NS5) that provide ship-shore interface
to support management of vessel in all technical, operations and compliance aspects.
Gas detection systems: All vessels shall be fitted with a fixed gas detection system capable of detecting hydrogen sulphide
(H2S) and explosive hydrocarbons gases (LEL).
A minimum of (5) sensors shall be provided around the vessel.
Crew boats & security vessels shall have three (3) sensors.
Interceptor vessels & docking tugs shall have at least (2) portable gas detection units.
Electrical equipment: Applicable external electrical equipment installed on vessel that are required to operate where is a
risk hydrocarbons release shall be of the explosion proof type rated EXE.
Fire fighting equipment: Vessel shall be classed as per contract either FFV-1, FFV-2 or FFV-3 and provided with the
equipment required as per the class notations.
Safety: Crew shall be capable of demonstrating competence in utilization of safety/rescue equipment and understanding
of rescue operations plan requirements.
Rescue Zones: Shall be established on both sides of the vessel clear of thrusters and overboard discharges.
Life Rafts: Capacity onboard shall be capable of accommodating (40) persons per side with a total of (80).
Port Engineer: Shall be a qualified chief engineer, STCW III/2 licensed for his position and is capable of operating and
maintaining diesel engines of at least the horse power rating for their company vessels contracted to
Saudi Aramco.

ABBREVIATIONS:
JOB SAFETY ANALYSIS (JSA) = A technique used to identify, eliminate or mitigate any hazard before you carry out any critical
task.
JSA: Vessel master are responsible for the effective implementation of Job Safety Analysis process onboard their vessel.
MARPOL = International convention for the prevention of pollution from ships.
HOURS OF WORK: Seafarers must receive a minimum of 70 hours rest in any 7-day period
The10 hours of rest required in any 24 hours period may be divided into no more than three periods
Maintenance of safety equipment: Contracted vessels should maintain a safety equipment register. This register should list
all safety equipment on board, in addition to documenting monthly inspections by ships
staff. Routine checks and maintenance of LSA and FFE should also be included in the
planned maintenance system (PMS).
VESSEL INSPECTIONS: Unit heads for offshore vessels are to carry out a safety inspection for all contracted vessel in his unit.
CONTRACTED PORT ENGINEER: Every vessel, as per the agreed Marine Contract, shall be supported at all times by an ‘In
Kingdom’ Port Captain and Port Engineer, who shall be assigned up to maximum of eight
(8) vessels per region.
Responsibility:
> All aspects of the vessel shore support including crew administration, management, movement, assignment and
familiarization.
> Report to the proponent and QA&CU all vessel defect and breakdown.
> Compiling an officer C.V package for review
> Ensuring every candidate officer completes the required familiarization and evaluation procedures.
> Assessing the candidate officer on completion of the required familiarization and signing the reports.
> Ensuring that every candidate Officer is fully prepared for the evaluation procedures.
> Ensuring the monitoring of the accepted Officer.
Purpose: The purpose of the General Instructions (GI) is to establish a minimum requirement for issuing/receiving work
permits at Saudi Aramco facilities and project sites. The work permit system authorizes specific construction maintenance,
inspection or repair activities to be conducted that pose a hazard to personnel, damage to equipment or facilities, disruption
of operations or harm to the environment. A work permit is not simply permission to carry out a hazardous activity, but is an
essential part of a process that determines the hazards associated with a particular activity and the precautions to take so
the job can be carried out safely. When issued, work permits serve as official records of conditions and minimum safety
agreed upon by the issuer and receiver to control hazards associated with the work.
