Requirements
Special: Must be bonded to a mystic rider.
Special: Whenever a mystic rider bonded to a unicorn gains a new level in the
mystic rider class, her bonded unicorn automatically gains a level in this class.
Class Abilities
Bonded Spellpool: Beginning at 1st level, a bonded unicorn casts spells as a
sorcerer. The bonded unicorn chooses her spells from the sorcerer spell list, but
she cannot choose spells from the necromancy school. She may also choose spells
from animal, good, and healing domains which she casts as arcane spells.
If it is higher than her own, a bonded unicorn may use her rider’s Charisma bonus
to determine bonus spells per day.
All the bonded unicorn’s spells per day become part of her bonded spellpool, and
both the bonded unicorn and her rider can cast spells by drawing on this spellpool.
Whether the unicorn or the rider casts a spell, the caster level is equal to the
bonded unicorn class level.
Since they cast their spells by drawing on one another, each calculates saving
throws for spells she casts using the other’s Charisma score rather than her own.
A bonded unicorn or her rider may choose to have any spell she casts that would
normally only affect themselves affect the other instead. They can also cast touch
spells on one another regardless of the distance between them.
Sacred Bond: A bonded unicorn gains a sacred bond bonus equal to her rider’s
Charisma bonus. Likewise, her rider gains a sacred bond bonus equal to the bonded
unicorn’s Charisma bonus. The bonded unicorn and her rider both apply the
appropriate sacred bonus when the bonded unicorn reaches the appropriate level.
The mystic rider loses these bonuses if she is in violation of her mystic rider
vows.
Deflection bonus: Beginning at 1st level, a bonded unicorn and her rider gain a
deflection bonus to AC equal to their sacred bond bonus.
Attack bonus: Beginning at 2nd level, the bonded unicorn and her rider add their
sacred bond bonus to all attack rolls.
Damage bonus: Beginning at 4th level, a bonded unicorn and her rider add their the
sacred bond bonus to all weapon damage rolls.
Saving throw bonus: Beginning at 6th level, a bonded unicorn and her rider add
their the sacred bond bonus to all saving throws.
Damage reduction: Beginning at 8th level, a bonded unicorn and her rider gain
damage reduction equal to their sacred bond bonus. This damage reduction is
overcome by weapons with the evil descriptor.
Energy resistance: Beginning at 9th level, a bonded unicorn and her rider gain
energy resistance equal to their sacred bonus vs. acid, cold, and electricity.
Spell resistance: Beginning at 10th level, a bonded unicorn and her rider gain SR
equal to 15 + their sacred bond bonus.
Corrupted Unicorns
If a bonded unicorn should become evil while bonded to a good mystic rider, she may
forcibly draw on her bond with the mystic rider to benefit from her bonded unicorn
class abilities.
A good mystic rider who draws on the bond of a corrupted bonded unicorn risks
becoming corrupt herself, and must make a Will saving throw as described above,
with a DC equal to 10 + the bonded unicorn’s HD (including those from her bonded
unicorn levels) + her bonded unicorn’s Charisma bonus.
Because the dangers of corruption are so great, mystic riders and unicorns are
exceptionally careful with regard to with who they are willing to bond.
