Commissioners Ready
to Sign $324 Million
Budget
County, Sheriff ’s Staffs Get Raises

The Commissioners of St,
Mary’s County are expected to ap-
prove a $324 million budget when
they convene on May 24. The end
of May is traditionally the dead-
line for the commissioners to rat-
ify the budget for the next fiscal
year which begins July 1.
In balancing the budget, the
commissioners used up virtual-
ly all of their undesignated fund
balance.
At a perfunctory 15-ninute
budget work session on May 17,
the commissioners allocated the
$1,185,037 that was still available
from previous work sessions.
The last-minute decisions
included:
