13 FLEXIBLE DUCTS

A. General: Comply with UL 181, Class I.

B. Flexible Ducts, Uninsulated: Spiral-wound steel spring with flameproof vinyl sheathing.

C. Flexible Ducts, Uninsulated: Corrugated aluminun1.

D. Flexible Ducts, Insulated: Factory-fabricated, insulated, round duct, comply with


ASTM C 553, Type 11, with an outer jacket enclosing 38 mm thick with thermal
Conductivity of0.038W/mK at 20deg. C mean temperature, glass- fiber insulation around a
continuous inner liner. Acoustic insertion loss shall not be less than 3 dB per 300 mm of
straight duct, at 500 Hz, based on 150 mm diameter duct, and 750 m/min air velocity.

I. Reinforcement: Steel-wire helix encapsulated in inner liner.


2. Outer Jacket: Glass-reinforced, silver Mylar with a continuous hanging tab, integral
fibrous-glass tape, and nylon hanging cord or aluminum foil.
3. Inner Liner: Polyethylene film.
