manufacturers, designers, and organisations promoting
a sustainable lifestyle through a diverse product
portfolio. All of our products are chemical free, zero
waste, natural and contain sustainably sourced
ingredients. We also go a step further and focus on upcycling, repurposing and recycling of our
products to reduce outflow of waste. Apart from promoting and enabling sustainable lifestyles,
Goli Soda also catalyses rural employment and women’s empowerment through partnerships and
collaborations. Another key aspect of our work involves customer education through workshops
and events promoting sustainable living. We are a community that is constantly growing, adding

Banta Soda, or Banta, also Goli Soda or Goti Soda and Fotash Jawl, is a


popular carbonated lemon or orange-flavoured soft drink sold in India since late 19th century in
a distinctly shaped iconic Codd-neck bottle. The pressure created by the carbonated liquid seals
the bottle by forcing a glass marble up into the neck of the bottle where it snugly locks into a
rubber gasket. Opening the bottle by pressing on the marble thus releasing the pressurised gas is
seen to be a fun experience.[1][2][3] The drink is easily available at street-sellers, known
as bantawallahs, The drink is sold in glass tumblers and plastic cups, and used to be served
in kulhars (traditional small earthen pots).
Due to the continued popularity, the bottle and drink have become part of Indian popular
culture.[1] The drink, which is highly in demand during April-May summer months, is often sold
mixed with lemon juice, crushed ice, chaat masala and kala namak (black salt) as a carbonated
variant of popular traditional lemonades shikanjvi or jal-jeera. The Banta Soda is popular
in Delhi, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh; and its variation the Panneer Soda, which is mixed with rose
essence, is popular in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh.  Due to its popularity, it is also available
in “fancy“ bars, and commercially mass-manufactured versions in several flavours are also
available in cafes, bars and five star hotels.
The drink gets its name from the marble in the Codd-neck bottle. The marble
in Hindi and Punjabi is known as the banta, goli, goti, kancha, etc. Hence the names, Banta
Soda and Goti Soda - as the drink is known in North India, and the Goli Soda - as the drink is
known in South India.
Packaged Drinking Water/Mineral Water

INTRODUCTION

It is needless to mention that water, a compound of hydrogen and


oxygen is a precious natural gift which is very essential for survival of
mankind including animals. The water used for portable purposes should
be free from undesirable impurities. The water available from untreated
sources such as Well, Boreholes and Spring is generally not hygienic and
safe for drinking. Thus it is a desirable and necessary to purify the water and supply under hygienic
conditions for human drinking purpose as the name implies. The mineral water is the purified water
fortified with requisite amounts of minerals such as barium, iron, manganese etc., which can absorbed by
human body. It is either obtained from natural resources like spring and drilled wells or it is fortified
artificially by blending and treating with mineral salts. The mineral water shall be manufactured and
packed under hygienic conditions sin properly washed and cleaned bottles in sterilized conditions.

MARKET POTENTIAL :

Unfortunately sufficient safe portable water is not available everywhere in the country, either
harmful chemical substances are found in the layers of earth which enter in to water or it may be
contaminated due to pathogenic micro-organisms. If such water is consumed, the body suffers from water
born diseases. Due to this, it has become imperative to process and bottle safe portable water for the
mankind in prevailing conditions. The demand for purified water becomes more during summer season.
Although few companies have already entered in the bottling of safe portable water and mineralized
water, but still huge gap is there in between demand and supply at all metropolitan cities and towns. The
product is widely accepted in offices, restaurants, railway stations, airport, but stands, hospitals and to
some extent in rich house-holds. So there is good scope for establishing the units for processing and
bottling plain and mineralized drinking water in different parts of the country.

BASIS & PRESUMPTIONS :


I. This project is based on single shift basis and 300 working days in a year.
II. The cost of machinery & equipment /materials indicated refer to a particular make and
the prices are approximate to these prevailing at the time of preparation of this profile.
III. The cost of packaging, forwarding tax etc and installation electrification of machinery is
taken @ 15% non-refundable deposits, project cost, trial production, fees etc are
considered under pre-operative expenses.
IV. Pay back period of the project will be 5 years, with monthly installments.
V. Break even point has been calculated at the full capacity utilization.
VI. For smooth functioning of unit it is suggested that unit should have a good stock of
quality raw material.

The above table shows that out of 100 respondents, most of them used to consume Mineral water
and Goli Soda drinks. Out of 100, 50 used to consume branded Mineral water drinks, 35 Golisoda, and
others constitute 15%.
