Today I would like to talk about the topic of public speaking.

I know that
foreign language learners who later become teachers or interpreters need public
speaking skills. My story is also related to that skill. As we know, in Vietnam,
we start school on September the fifth every year, unless Saturday, Sunday. On
this day, every school holds an opening ceremony. Schools want to invite
leaders as high level as possible to beat the opening drum and believe that it will
bring success to both students and teachers. And one school fortunately invited
the chairman of the district to come to speak. This is a small elementary school
among dozens of other schools. Due to his busy schedule, he asked his secretary
to compose his speech. With the secretary, this is also quite simple because
every year her boss goes to the schools to give a speech, she just needs to copy
the previous year's speech and change the school's name, date and that's it. On
the morning of September 5, she placed it on the chairman's desk. That day he
came, found the speech on the table, took it away without reading it because he
also knew the main contents of that speech.
