villages in Ressib area, making required tests to insure the

Infrastructure Expert for Historic City of Shibam- Hadhramout


Infrastructure Project, (2008 – 2010)

The implementation of an infrastructure project within the
historical city required the establishment of a support unit (SU)
with great experience to assist the Project Implementation Unit
(PIU) in the execution of project.
As Technical Director of the Support Unit (SU),
 I carried out awareness-raising for the master builders on
preserving the cultural heritage of the city,
 Training master builders to become contractors assigned
to work within the city.
 I trained newly graduated engineers of PIU to execute
project works

The work include the following:


I. Performing the whole infrastructure components (water
supply network, sewerage network, electricity,
communication, rain water drainage system, and stone
paving) in the Pilot Segment in the Old City of Shibam,
II. Preparation of TOR for consultants, Preparation of tender
documents, participating in the evaluation of bidder as a
member of the evaluation committee,
III. Develop proposals for the implementation of the work in
accordance with the instructions of UNISCO for Historic
Cities
IV. Assist in the planning, budgeting and scheduling of the
project.
V. Other associated tasks include to developing guidelines for
implementation, monitoring, reporting of the work for the
historic city.
VI. Coordination and follow-up of UNESCO missions visiting
the project to ensure that the implemented works conform
to UNESCO rules for historical cities

Senior Project Officer for Shibam- Hadhramout Infrastructure


Project, (2004 – 2008)

Responsible as a senior project officer for the preparation of


request for proposals (using World Bank Guideline) and follow up
their submission to the short listed consultants, managing all the
correspondence up to the date of opening the proposals,
participating in the evaluation of the consultants proposals as a
committee member, reviewing and commenting on consultants
studies and designs, checking the hydraulic calculations and other
design criteria. Other associated tasks include to supervising the
replacement of defected sewers to maintain the existing sewerage
network, participate in workshops and discussions with
stakeholders on all issues of the project, preparation of request for
proposals for the environmental Impact Assessment (using World
Bank Guideline), participating in the evaluation of the consultants
proposals for conducting the EIA study as a committee member
and Follow up the work of the wastewater treatment plant in
Heridhah (Wadi Hadhramout).

Resident Engineer for Aden Mills and Silos Project

of civil and structural works, quality control of Contractor’s
works, supervision of material testing and ensuring civil works
conform to contract to contract drawings and specifications.
Detailed tasks include determining the location of piles driving,
determining the Axis of all Structures in the site using Theodolite
Supervision the Piles Foundation work (Manufacturing,
Transporting, driving and testing), Supervision the concrete work
for pile Caps and Channels, Supervision the work of steel
structures for the steel Buildings (Mills of capacity 600 ton/day,
Wheat Backing, Pre-Cleaning tower, warehousing for finished

works for the Silos (75000 ton. Capacity), Supervision the

Responsible for construction works to preserve urban historic
areas in Aden and Yemen.

Project Technical Advisor for Rehabilitation of Tawila Water


Tanks, in Aden (1996 – 1998)

Provided technical advising, construction supervision and quality
control for Rehabilitation project of Tawila Water Tanks and
associated water system. Tasks performed included following the
concerned government authorities and discussing the
requirements of the site, quality control for the executed works
and solving problems appear during work execution. Other
performed tasks included the studies for history of Aden,
Hydrology (storm water drainage system for the town),
Surveying, Ecology, Laboratory tests for old building materials.
Other associated tasks included the restoration of an old building
and creating Documentation Center and the rehabilitation of
Tawila Garden.

Designer & Site Engineer for Restoration of Yemen Women’s


Union Building Project (1995 – 1996)
Employer: HS and Associates (Hani Sahooly)
Performed construction supervision, detailed design, and
evaluation of construction options for maintenance and repair of
Yemen Women Union Building. Tasks completed include
supervision of works, quality assurance of construction,
construction site management and administration. Project cost
was 1.2 million. Other associated tasks include the study of
building situation, existing cracks, building movements checking
verticality and load analysis.

Designer & Site Engineer for Al-Hadda Gas Filling Station (1994
– 1995)
Employer: Al-Hadda Company
Performed the design, quality control and detailed design services
for 9 million USD Gas Filling Station. Completed construction
supervision and design for reinforced concrete buildings,
foundation of a steel water tank 15 m diameter and 10 m height,
foundation and ground beams for a steel frame 30 m span for the
filling area, foundation and bearing walls of the liquid gas tanks
17.5 m span, roads and bridges for the site and rainwater drainage
system for the whole site. Specific tasks included supervision of
quality control works, supervision of testing, ensuring works
comply with design drawings and specifications, and project
management.

Design and construction supervision of the projects of the


General Organization for the Preservation of Historic Cities in
Yemen (GOPHCY) Sana’a (1987 – 1994)

Acted as a Structural Designer and Site Supervisor engineer, scope
of services includes to review, redesign, update structural
drawings, preparation and verification of bidding documents,
BOQ, cost estimate, contract documents, tender documents and
specifications related to structural works for GOPHCY
construction contracts. Other associated tasks included to
completing structural design and sanitary system for Ibn Al-Amir
School, Site Supervisor for SOQ Al BAQER CLINIC in the old city
of Sana’a Supervisor Paving Roads in the Old City of Sana’a and
Wadi Sayla Project. Also participated together with German
Consultants in the study of Samsarat Al-Mansurah Restoration

Performed construction supervision, quality assurance, and


construction administration services for the 800 million Sana’a
Sewerage project. Tasks completed included supervision of
installation of sewer pipelines, reinforced concrete works,
manholes, and underground sewerage conveyance systems.

backfilling, soil and concrete testing.
