PRECISION TOOLS
- Precision tools are meant to boost precision or accuracy
while machining products. The technology is used for
manufacturing superior quality and highly accurate
industrial automation equipment, automotive parts, medical
implant accessories and consumer goods.
USES:
- Precision Measuring Instruments are tools or devices
used for directly measuring physical quantities, or
obtaining measurements indirectly by making calculations
on real-world objects in such a manner that one can get
precise values.
BORE GAUGES
INTRODUCTION
- A bore gauge is a tool used to measure the inside of a bore, or hole. Once a bore gauge is
inserted into the hole that needs measuring, small parts called anvils expand outward to
determine the diameter.
USES:
- Bore gauges are used in applications where holes, cylinders, and pipes need the be
measured, such as automotive, manufacturing, and inspection and calibration uses.

DIAL INDICATORS
INTRODUCTION
- An instrument that measures small distances; used specially to check the tolerance of
machined parts.
USES:
-The tools are also used to check out the runout of the spindle in a machine tool. Workpieces
can be aligned in the spin fixture by the help of Dial Indicators.

FEELER GAUGES
INTRODUCTION
- Feeler gauges, sometimes called thickness gauges or feeler gages, are mechanical
measurement instruments that are used to provide a precise reading of the gap that exists
between two parallel surfaces, such as the clearance between two machine parts or elements
USES:
-Feeler gauges find application wherever there is a need to accurately establish the size of the
clearance or gap between two mating machine elements or surfaces and where other
measuring devices, such as calipers or a steel rule, are not able to be employed.

MICROMETER
INTRODUCTION
- The amount of rotation of an accurately made screw can be directly and precisely correlated
to a certain amount of axial movement (and vice versa), through the constant known as the
screw's lead.
USES:
-The inside micrometer is the most direct measuring tool used for inspection
MICROMETER
USES:
-Outside micrometers look like a clamp — a moving spindle comes together with a fixed
“anvil” to measure the thickness or diameter of a part.

TAPERED GAUGE
INTRODUCTION
- A taper gauge is a measuring tool that measures sizes such as the width of gaps and
grooves, hole diameter, and pipe inner diameter.
USES:
-A taper gauge useful for quantity inspections of hole diameters, groove diameters, and pipe
inner diameters.

VERNIER CALIPERS
INTRODUCTION
- The main use of Vernier calipers is to measure the internal and external dimensions or
distance extremely accurately.
USES:
- The manual version has both an imperial and metric scale. Manually operated Vernier calipers
can still be bought and remain popular because they are much cheaper than the digital version.
Also, the digital version requires a small battery whereas the manual version does not need any
power source.
