Social media means websites and applications that enables users to
create and share content or to participate in social networking. Such as Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Zoom, Google meet, V live etc. Due to the pandemic schools, offices and colleges are closed. People have to do their job and studies from home. The one and only option is to use conferencing apps such as Skype, Zoom and Google meet. It’s positive sides are like people sitting at their homes in their comfort can join online classes or meetings. It is cost effective and saves time. People don’t have to travel anymore or use vehicles. If any student or an employee fails to login, the meeting can be recorded and mailed to the particular person for future reference. Due to the constant use of devices like laptops and tablets for online learning and work from home, it is affecting people’s health. Constant use of devices leads to addiction and brain disease. Many cyber crimes happen with children and teenagers. They end up downloading such apps which are not secure and contains malware. They also end up meeting strangers who threaten them and urge them to share personal information like passwords and bank account details of their parents. Sometimes devices which are not supervised or does not contain a strong password gets hacked and all the confidential documents and information end up with a hacker which is no good. Sometimes children out of curiosity search such things on the google which is not for them to understand and face problems related to cyber security. Among all the good aspects of social media, one thing that almost everyone realizes is how addictive it is. Also, people seemed to have grown more emotionally distant because of social media. We must be careful about our activities on social media for our well-being.
