Module 07a: Create 3-D Big Bush, Small Bush and Ring
Objectives:
To create 3-D big bush and small bush for housing body assembly.
Procedure:
Create 3-D models for the big bush, small bush and ring given in Figure 7.1 to 7.3. Make detail
working drawings of these models (by yourself at any time. Use h6 shaft tolerance and fit (press)
for Ø48, Ø30 big bush and Ø16 small bush. (Dimensions are in mm.) Save your work as
Big Bush.sldprt, Small Bush.sldprt and Ring.sldprt, respectively.

Module 07: Assembly Drawing
Objectives
To create assembly file.
To assemble housing parts.
Procedure:
1. Open the Housing Body, Big Bush, Small Bush and Ring model files.
2. Click New then on Tutorial tab window select to open an Assembly File then click OK.
See Figure 7.4. The Begin Assembly PropertyManager opens. Close this property manager.

5. Similarly insert the Ring below the Big Bush and Small Bush lower left of Housing body.
6. Save your work as Housing Body Assembly.sldasm. See Figure 7.6.
Notice that the file extension is now (*.sldasm) indicating an assembly file. You no longer
need the part files, but it is useful to keep them open.
Now you need to assemble (mate) all four parts together. First you will assemble Big Bush
and Ring, then this assembly with Housing Body and finally this assembly with Small Bush.
To assemble two parts you need at least two matting constraints.

7. Click Mate on the Assembly Toolbar. The Mate PropertyManager opens. See Figure 7.7.
8. Select the bottom face of Big Bush Head (by rotating you can see this) and top face of the
Ring. These will appear in Mate Selections box. Select Coincident constraint (if not) in
Standard Mates area. See Figure 7.8. Click to accept this matting. Notice the property
manager still appears.
9. Now you need to place the Ring in actual position (in neck of Big Bush). Select the neck face
of Big Bush and inner face of Ring. Select Concentric constraint (if not) in Standard

Mates area. Click to accept this matting. Notice the property manager still appears. Click
again to end the Mate command. Coincident1 and Concentric1 are added to Mates in
FeatureManager Design Tree. See Figure 7.9.
10. Click Mate on the Assembly Toolbar. The Mate PropertyManager opens. Select top face
of Housing Body and top face of Big Bush. These will appear in Mate Selections box. Select
Coincident constraint (if not) in Standard Mates area. Click to accept this matting.
Notice the property manager still appears.
11. Now Select the inner face of vertical hole of Housing Body and outer face of lower part of
Big Bush. Select Concentric constraint (if not) in Standard Mates area. Click to accept
this matting. Notice the property manager still appears. Click again to end the Mate
command. Coincident2 and Concentric2 are added to Mates in FeatureManager Design Tree.
See Figure 7.10.

12. Click Mate on the Assembly Toolbar. The Mate PropertyManager opens. Select inner hole
(small bush) of Housing Body and outer face of Small Bush. These will appear in Mate
Selections box. Select Concentric constraint (if not) in Standard Mates area. See
Figure 7.11. Click to accept this matting. Notice the property manager still appears.
13. Now Select the outer face of small bush of Housing Body and right face of the Small Bush.
Select Coincident constraint (if not) in Standard Mates area. Click to accept this
matting. Notice the property manager still appears. Click again to end the Mate
command. Concentric3 and Coincident3 are added to Mates in FeatureManager Design Tree.
The completed assembly is shown in Figure 7.12. Save your work.

Module 07: Assembly Drawing
Objectives
To create multiview of the housing body assembly.
To add bill of material (BOM).
Procedure:
1. With the Housing Body Assembly file opened click New and select ME 210_A4_Draw
or draw from the Tutorial tab window. See Figure 7.13. Notice that a
preview of a standard drawing border is shown. Click OK.

5. Insert three standard views from Hosing Body Assembly file in appropriate position. Use
scale 1:1.5. Give the dimensions. Show hidden lines, remove tangent edges, add center mark
and center lines. Add the broken out sections. See Figure 7.15. (Recall your mind about
exercise 05 & 06.) Save your work.
6. Create a Dimension Layer and put all dimensions in this layer. See Figure 7.15.

7. You can edit the cross hatch pattern for the bushes by clicking the hatch area. (Bronze, do by
yourself).
Select the front view and then click . The Bill of Materials will be attached with the
cursor. Place the Bill of Materials at the upper right corner of the sheet. See Figure 7.16.

A balloon attaches itself to the part. The number above the split line corresponds to the part
no. and the number below the split line corresponds to the quantity listed in the Bill of
Materials.
15. Add Balloons to the other three parts then click . To move the balloon or its leader arrow,
select and drag by the green handles.
16. Create a Balloons Layer and put all balloons in this layer.
17. The Lines Font may need to be changed from the default. Do the following changes from the
