Course Description

▪ Course consists of two sections CNC Machine Tools and CAE computational
tools.
▪ Therefore, this course is designed to introduce mechanical engineering
students to CAE computational tools as well as CNC Machine Operation &
Programming.

Course Objectives
The aims of this subject are twofold:
(1) To teach the fundamental theories and basic concepts underlying today’s
computer-aided manufacturing (CAM), and computer-aided engineering
(CAE),
(2) To provide hands-on opportunities and training for students on the use of
some professional CAE/CAM software.

Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of the subject, students will be able to:
(a) Describe the working principles of CAE/CAM techniques as tools in the
engineering design environment;
(b) Apply CAM/CAE systems in product development;
(c) Analyze solutions for engineering problems using simulation software;
(d) Apply background knowledge or newly obtained information to investigate
possible outcomes for engineering problems.
