*Adjectives go after the noun most of the time..


*Adjectives must agree with the noun.
*Adjectives on this list with an asterix go before the noun.

adorable – adorable magnifique – magnificent


aimable – friendly/likeable méchant – mean
américain – American mignon/mignonne – cute
amusant – funny/amusing moche – ugly

Rules to remember about
adjective agreement:

1. When the adjective ends in e, add nothing to make it


feminine.

2. When the adjective ends in é, add another e to make it


feminine.

3. When the adjective ends in any other letter besides – e, add


an e to make it feminine.

4. Snob, super, sympa and rigolo never change. In other


words, don’t ever add anything to make those adjectives
feminine.

5. Some adjectives are irregular, so you must memorize the


feminine form.

6. When the adjective ends in –eux, drop the –eux and add –
euse to make that adjective feminine.

7. When the adjective ends in –on, add another n and e to


make it feminine.

8. Most of the time, in order to make an adjective plural, add s.

9. If the adjective ends in –s or –x in the masculine singular


form, don’t add anything to make it masculine plural.
