Real-Time Clock Installation Procedure
Real-Time Clock Installation Procedure
The optional Real-time Clock (RTC) that is used with the G7 ASD is the Dallas Semiconductor DS1642-
100. The RTC provides the user with a time-stamp of Start, Run, and Fault events. Though the G7 has a
counter to control timing functions, such as accel/decel times, terminal delays, etc., the RTC allows for
real-time event control, as opposed to a user-selected counter start and accumulation time.
Date and time startups are allowed and faults may be logged and catalogued according to their time of
occurrence.
Installation
The DS1642-100 is packaged in a 24-pin DIP configuration and is installed on the component-side of the
Electronic Operator Interface printed circuit board. During insertion, ensure that the pin #1 marking on
the RTC is positioned at the pin #1 indicator imprinted on the printed circuit board.
Align the pins of the RTC with the female pins of the socket (one row at a time) and slowly press the RTC
into the socket. Perform a visual inspection when done to ensure that all of the RTC pins were inserted
correctly.
