As the election day comes near, a lot of religious people tends to forget the teachings of the

church. What I have learned from the seminar is that we have to vote candidates who are there to truly
serve the people and does not forget those who are truly in need. We have to recognize that our vote as
an individual weighs heavily and must be treated as something sacred since it will contribute to the
destination or future of our country. The thing that I observe the most during this season of campaigning
is that there are people who are loyal to the candidate that they have chosen instead of the country that
they live in. It saddens me to see that this people do not do their obligation as a Christian since they
favor candidates who does not have the ability to serve the people especially the needful. As part of the
Christian community, they have to do their own research or have someone help them and discuss it to
them the different characteristics of each candidate. They must also verify if the information that they
see is true since in this digital age where everything can be given to you easily, it is evident that there
are also a lot of misinformation mixed in it.

In regards to choosing a candidate for us to vote for, we must think how Christ himself lead his
own people. The candidate must have the heart to serve, the passion to lead, the mind to discern what
is good for the betterment of the country, and the hand who will govern with just the right amount of
strictness and love. This person must also have the knowledge and background to backup their claims on
the platforms that they present because without it, their plans might as well be spoken into the wind
since it will most likely not come true. A candidate who can build good relationships to other countries
must be taken in consideration as well since as a third world country, we have to seek help while also
developing our own country. To have the best interest at heart for the country and just for the self-
interest is one thing that is really important for me to see in a candidate. Our country has suffered
enough and now that we have the chance to elect people to sit in position, we must do our part as the
citizen of this country to properly discern the candidate who fits the most to lead our country to a better
future.
