TDI-terminated polycaprolactone based

VIBRATHANE ® 6060
liquid prepolymer

VIBRATHANE ® 6060
A Liquid Urethane Prepolymer

VIBRATHANE 6060 is a polycaprolactone based, TDI terminated liquid

urethane prepolymer that is readily processable by convention hand and
machine mixing techniques. When cured 4,4’-methylene-bis(2-
chloroaniline), this member of the VIBRATHANE family produces high
quality vulcanizates in the 60 Shore A hardness range. These tough, high
resilience elastomers are characterized by:

Low hardness
Excellent Abrasion Resistance
Low Compression Set

This unusual prepolymer yields a high performance 60A elastomer when

cured with MBCA, thereby avoiding the need for mixed curatives or
plasticizers which are usually required to achieve hardnesses in this range.

Urethane VIBRATHANE 6060 is a high quality product designed for use in high
Prepolymers wear mining applications. Its long pot life and low viscosity are attributes
that facilitate the casting of large as well as small fabricated parts.

Hygiene

VIBRATHANE 6060 prepolymer, as an uncured liquid prepolymer,

contains free toluene diisocyanate, which is known to cause irritation to
eyes, skin, mucous membranes and respiratory system. Avoid contact
with eyes, skin, and clothing, and wash thoroughly after handling. Avoid
breathing the vapor. Use only with adequate ventilation.

Other materials that may be used with VIBRATHANE 6060 in the

manufacture of finished products may present hazards in handling and use.
Before proceeding with any compounding or processing work, consult and
follow label directions and handling precautions from suppliers of all
ingredients.

Recommended Meltdown Procedure

Devices such as melting ovens, thermostatically controlled warming blankets or drum

heaters can be used for pre-heating VIBRATHANE 6060. Approximate preheat times at
70 C (158 F) are:
5 gallon pail 16 - 24 hours
55 gallon drum 36- 48 hours

Resins exposed to temperatures lower than 24 C during shipment and / or storage may
require longer meltdown times.
It is recommended that containers of Vibrathane 6060 be rolled prior to use to ensure
homogeneity.

Curing with Ethacure ® 300 Curative

ETHACURE 300 curative is an alternate diamine curative that can provide some
advantages versus the MBCA curative. It is a low viscosity liquid that accommodates
processing conditions that include ambient temperature castings with little or no loss of
elastomer properties. This versatile curative may be used with VIBRATHANE 6060 in
standard meter/mixing/dispensing equipment associated with MBCA cured systems.

Table III gives the recommended processing conditions for VIBRATHANE 6060 cured
with Ethacure® 300 Curative and the resulting physical properties. It should be noted
VIBRATHANE® 6060

that the Shore A hardness resulting from this combination is 70A rather than the 60A
obtained with MBCA.
