Theme: Word of Self, Family and Friends Topic : STARTER UNIT : FREE TIME

Content Standard: 1.2 Understand meaning in a variety of 3.2 Understand a variety of linear and
familiar contexts non-linear print and digital texts by using
appropriate reading strategies
Learning standard: 1.2.1 Understand with support the main idea 3.2.1 Understand the main idea of simple
of longer simple texts on a range of familiar texts of two paragraphs or more
topics
1) By the end of the lesson most pupils will be able to: listen and match pictures correctly.
Objectives
2) By the end of the lesson most pupils will be able to: read and fill the gaps correctly.
Success Criteria/ 1) Pupils can listen and match 5 pictures
Can do statements 2) Pupils can read and fill in the blanks

LEARNING OUTLINES:
1. Write ‘free time’ on the board and ask pupils to share what they think is free time.
Pre Lesson
2. Write pupils answer on the board.
1. Pupils refer to textbook page 4 Activity 1 and asked to check if any of their sharing earlier
is in the box.
2. Pupils listen to audio CD1-02. Pupils listen to the song and match the words to the pictures
Lesson Development below orally.
3. Pupils refer to Activity 2. Teacher checks if pupils understand the words.
4. Pupils read the text with a partner and guess which words go in the gaps.
5. Pupils listen to CD1-03 to check the answers.
1. Pupils in pairs do a think-pair-share where they share what they would do in their free time.

2. Select volunteers to share with the rest of the class.
