Experience of Bullying Among High School Students: Inputs to an Intervention Program

Conceptual Framework

School Students

The study is aimed to gather inputs/ data for the creation of a bullying intervention

program.

Showed in figure 1 is the conceptual framework of the study in the IPO model. It is given

the experience of bullying among High School students as the input. To end up with the output,

which is an intervention program, the process of using a survey is conducted.

2

Hypothesis of the Study

The bullying experience of the high school students will be great inputs for an intervention

program.

Professional Characteristics and Life Balance of Teachers in Relation to Schools' Curricular

and Co-Curricular Performance

Conceptual Framework

Life Balance of Performance
Teachers

The study is aimed determining the relationship between the professional characteristics

and life balance of teachers and the schools' curricular and co-curricular performance.

Showed in figure 1 is the conceptual framework of the study in the IV-DV model.

Professional characteristics and life balance of teachers as the independent variables. Given these,

the schools’ curricular and co-curricular performance is the dependent variable of the study.

Hypothesis of the Study

H 0: There is no significant relationship between the professional characteristics and life

balance of teachers and the school’s curricular and co- curricular performance.

H 1 : There is a significant relationship between the professional characteristics and life

balance of teachers and the school’s curricular and co- curricular performance.

II. Among the two selected topics, chose one and prepare a research proposal. Discuss well
your proposal following the sub-topics listed below:

Professional Characteristics and Life Balance of Teachers in Relation to Schools'

Curricular and Co-Curricular Performance

Statement of the Problem

a. General Problem
The main purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between the professional

characteristics and life balance of teachers and the schools' curricular and co-curricular

performance.

b. Specific Questions

Specifically, this study sought to find answers to the following questions:

1. How the professional characteristics and life balance of teachers be described along

the following:

1.1 age;

1.2 gender;

1.3 civil status;

1.4 academic achievement; and

1.4 years of experience?

2. Is there a significant relationship between the professional characteristics and life

balance of teachers and the schools' curricular and co-curricular performance.?

3. What plan of action may be formed based on the findings of the study to further

improve school’s performance?

c. Methods and Techniques of the Study. (What type of research design will you use
and your specific technique/s in conducting the study?)

This study is correlational in nature and focused in determining the relationship

between the professional characteristics and life balance of teachers and the schools'

curricular and co-curricular performance. Two groups were given the same questionnaire

for them to answer followed by an interview. Additionally, correlational research is a type

of non-experimental research method, in which a researcher measures two variables,

understands and assess the statistical relationship between them with no influence from any

extraneous variable (Bhat, 2017). In this study the relationship between the professional

characteristics and life balance of teachers and the schools' curricular and co-curricular

performance.

d. Population and Sample of the Study (Specific sampling techniques)

This research was participated by 25 teachers from San Juan de Dios Educational

Foundation, Inc. and also 25 teachers from Maronquillo National High School.

e. Research Instrument

The instrument the researcher used was a Rotated Component Matrix for

Characteristics related to the teaching profession survey in Likert Scale form adopted from

The Turkish Online Journal of Educational Technology. The instrument utilizes scales

ranging from 1 to 5 to describe the practice as follows: 5 means Strongly Agree; 4 - Agree;

3 – Neither Agree Nor Disagree; 2 – Disagree; and 1 – Strongly disagree.

f. Data Processing and Statistical Treatments (Statistical treatment needed to use)

The data gathered were processed by computer system using the Statistical

Packages for Sound Sciences (SPSS). The data were analyzed using the following

statistical tools:

The professional characteristics and life balance of teachers and the

schools' curricular and co-curricular performance was measured and analyzed through

Pearson Correlation method.

In order to determine the correlation among the quantitative variables in the study,

Pearson product-moment correlation coefficients were computed. The following table

shows the interpretation of these correlation coefficient according to Evans (1996).

Peason r Interpretation

± 0.80−± 1.00 Very strong correlation

± 0.60−± 0.79 Strong correlation
± 0.40−± 0.59 Moderate correlation
± 0.20−± 0.39 Weak correlation
± 0.00−± 0.19 Very weak correlation

III. Complete the content (outline) of the following Chapters.

CHAPTER I – In this chapter, it is essentially needed to outline what is the study about.
Provide the background of the study, the problems/ questions it wants to answer, its
delimitations, the definition of the terms that are needed to be defined and clearly identify the
gap that your study will fill.
5

CHAPTER II - This chapter should summarize the theories, literature and studies that is
relevant to the research study, bringing out where the gaps are, and how your research helps to
fill in one or more of these gaps.

These review is an analytical summary of the past work relevant to your topic. This is more
than just writing a paragraph summarizing the main point of each article you read. In an
analytical summary, you should link together the readings to build a story about what has been
done and what needs to be done.

In this chapter there should be clear hypotheses development and statement of the study’s
hypotheses and the definition of the variables in the study.

CHAPTER III - In this chapter, outline the method (or methods) that is employed to test the
study’s hypotheses. Methods most suitable to address your research questions may vary
depending on the questions themselves. The respondents of the study must be included in this
chapter. Data collection instruments should be described, and will vary depending on the
method used.

Also, in this chapter also outline the techniques used to analyze the data that is collected. Every
data analysis process will be different depending on the design of the study and the type of data
collected.
