Title:
Single Phase Full Wave Controlled Rectifier (Hardware PT970721 trainer + Multisim
Simulation)

Objectives:
 To describe the working principles of a full-wave rectifier using a thyristor.

Introduction:
Full Wave Rectifier:
A full view rectifier is defined as a rectifier that converts a complete cycle of
alternating current into a pulsating DC. Full Wave Bridge Rectifiers are mostly used
for the low cost of diodes because of being lightweight and highly efficient. And it is
used to detect the amplitude of the modulating radio signal.

Procedure
 First, I open MATLAB.
 Then I opened Simulink in MATLAB.
 Then, I Select the Blank Model option in the Simulink window on MATLAB.
 Then, I get components from Simulink Library, first, I get Powergui, Diode,
Voltage and current measurements, Goto, From, AC Voltage source, Series
RLC branch, and scope.
 Then I connect the circuit diagram.
I gave 220*sqrt (2) voltage
Then I gave 5-Ohm resistor.
 Connect this resistor branch at the load of the bridge rectifier and the diagram
with load connected will look like the one shown in the figure below.
 Now we need to set the input parameters of AC voltage source.

 Then I change the load one by one to check the behavior of voltages and
current.
 I check the output on the scope.
First, I connect the Resistor in the circuit diagram:

 In this graph, the output is a pulsating DC. It can be converted to plain DC by using
filters and regulators.
 During the positive half cycle, diode D1 is forward biased and D2 is reverse biased.
Due to this, diode D1 will conduct acting as a short circuit, and D2 will not conduct
acting as an open circuit
 During the negative half cycle, the diode D1 is reverse biased D2 is forward biased.
Thus, in a full-wave rectifier, DC voltage is obtained for both positive and negative
half- cycles.
2nd, I connect the Capacitor value to 200F Value in the circuit diagram:

 A Capacitor connected across the output allows the AC signal to pass through it and
blocks the DC signal, thus acting as a high pass filter.
 A capacitor is included in the rectifier circuit to act as a filter to reduce ripple voltage.
3rd, I connect Capacitor value to 20MF in the circuit diagram:

 By changing the capacitor value to 20MF is included in the rectifier circuit to act as a
filter to Remove ripple voltage.

Conclusion:
In this lab, I learned about to analysis of the Single-Phase Full Wave-controlled Rectifier
circuit on MATLAB Simulink. And I design a Full wave-controlled rectifier Circuit.
This lab was done successfully.
