LEARNING heat, and sound S4FE-IIIi-j-6
COMPETENCIES
I. OBJECTIVE/S: Describe ways to protect oneself from exposure to
excessive light, heat, and sound

III. LEARNING TASKS
TEACHER’S ACTIVITY LEARNER’S ACTIVITY
Establishing a purpose for the lesson
- Hello kids, how are you today?
Are you ready to join me in this lesson?
- In today’s lesson, you will learn about - Yes sir!
the ways to protect oneself from intense
light, heat, and sound.
- At the end of this lesson, you should be
able to answer the following questions:
1. What objects can help us protect
ourselves from too much heat, light,
and sound?
2. What can we do to protect ourselves
from light, heat, and sound?
ENGAGEMENT
Illustrations will be used to let the pupils
conceptualize the ideas.
- Before we proceed to our new lesson for
today, I want you to have a simple
review from our previous lesson.

- What is the type of energy that is made

of vibrations? - Sound

- Correct! Sound is the type of energy that

is made of vibrations.

- Now, let’s answer the activity provided. - Yes sir!

Are you ready?

- Let’s arrange the jumbled letters in each

number.
1. It refers to an undesirable sound. - noise
- ONIES
2. It is the pitch of the sound of the distance
of each wave from one another.
- FERQEUNYC -frequency
3. It is quickly moving back and forth about
a point of equilibrium. -vibration
- IBVARITON
4. It is referring to the loudness and softness
of a sound. -volume
- OVULME
5. It is the sound that is reflected or
returned. -echo
- EHOC

- Perfect kids. Those are the

characteristics of sound. You understood
well our past lesson.

- Now, let’s begin our lesson on how we

protect ourselves from intense light,
heat, and sound. Are you ready?

EXPLORATION

- Look at the picture and find the hidden

objects that we need to protect ourselves
from the excessive heat and light of the
sun.
- Yes sir!

- Were you able to find all the hidden -umbrella

objects? -hat (sun visor), wide brim hat
-sunglasses
- Very good. What are the objects that -lotion (sunblock lotion)
you found in the picture?

-Yes sir!
- Correct! Can those objects help us to
protect ourselves from too much heat - The umbrella is used for protection
and light from the sun? against rain and the heat of the sun.
- That’s right! Now, what is the use of the - The hat is used for protection against
umbrella? weather conditions.
- The sunglasses are used to protect the
eyes from the excessive heat of the sun.
- Correct! How about the use of the hat?

- The use of sunglasses?

- The lotion is used to protect the skin
from the harmful effects of the sun.

- Correct! And how about the use of

lotion (sunblock lotion)?

- Very good! These objects help us to

protect ourselves from the excessive
heat of the sun.
EXPLANATION
- What else can we do to protect ourselves
from too much light and heat from the
sun?
- We should avoid playing under the sun
when it is high noon.
- Let us not look directly at the sun.
- Apply sunblock lotion when we go
swimming.

- You got it right! We need to protect

ourselves because people exposed to too
much heat and light may suffer from
different skin ailments.

- How about the noise in our

environment? Can you identify the
different sources of noise?
- - Firecrackers
- Sounds from machinery
- Traffic
- Construction
- Airplanes
- Fire trucks
- ambulance
- Very good! Don’t you know that too
much exposure to loud sounds or noise
can cause a person tiredness, headache,
hearing loss, vomiting, irritability, and
tension?

- So, what shall we do to protect ourselves - No sir!

from the harmful effect of loud sound or
noise?
- Avoid having too much noise in a room
- You may ask a responsible adult to turn
down the volume of a radio or TV when
you cannot do it.
- People who are exposed to intense noise
should wear ear protectors to help
prevent hearing loss
- Do not develop the habit of listening to
loud music.

- Very good! Always remember that too

much heat, light, and sound is not good
for us.
ELABORATION
- Now, just a short recap. Today you
learned different ways to protect
yourself from intense light, heat, and
sound.

Let’s answer the following questions:

- What objects can help us protect

ourselves from too much heat, light, and
sound? - The umbrella, hat, sunglasses and
Sunblock lotions are things that we can
use to protect ourselves from the
excessive heat of the sun. We should
also use ear protectors to protect our
ears from loud noise.

- What can we do to protect ourselves

from too much light, heat, and sound?

- We should avoid playing under the sun

when it is high noon.
- Let us not look directly at the sun.
- Apply sunblock lotion when we go
swimming.
- Use ear protector when going to noisy
places like motorsport events, firework
displays, concerts
- Awesome! You are correct! So these are - Turn the volume down when listening
the things that we need to remember. using earphones
