CHAPTER 7

7.1 CONCLUSION

In this 21st century, as we build up our technology, population & growth, the energy consumption per capita
increases exponentially, as well as our energy resources (e.g. fossils fuels) decrease rapidly. As we all know that
maximum power is generated by the power plants. These power plants are good for power generation but are also
harmful for environment. Power plants emit carbon and hot gases which pollute our environment. To control the
pollution and for sustainable development, we have to think alternative methods (utilization renewable energy
sources) in order to fulfil our energy demand. Among all the renewable energy, solar energy is best for power
generation. Solar panels are used to generate power from this energy.

In this project. Dual Axis Solar Tracker, we’ve developed a demo model of solar tracker to track the maximum
intensity point of light source so that the voltage given at that point by the solar panel is maximum. After a lot of
trial and errors we’ve successfully completed our project and we are proud to invest some effort for our society.
Now, like every other experiment, this project has couple of imperfections.

 Our panel senses the light in a sensing zone, beyond which it fails to respond.
 If multiple sources of light (i.e., diffused light source) appear on panel, it calculates the vector sum of light
sources & moves the panel in that point.

The paper has presented a means of tracking the sun’s position with the help of microcontroller and LDR sensors.
Specially, it demonstrates a working software solution for maximizing solar cell output by positioning a solar panel
at the point of maximum light intensity. Moreover, the tracker can initialize the starting position itself which reduce
the need of any more photo resistors. The attractive feature of the designed solar tracker is simple mechanism to
control the system.

As solar power production is used in large scale worldwide so, even an increment in efficiency by 1% than
stationery plane will increases the net power production by large) amount. Hence, no matter by how much tracker
increases an efficiency it is always welcomed.

In a conclusion, this mechanism could be manifested in wide range of applications that require solar tracking such as
parabolic trough collector, solar dish, lens and other PV systems to collect maximum radiation from sun. The dual
axis solar tracking system do not harm the environment and have 0% carbon emission which is very good for our
environment. This system is very easy to install. Even a person can install this system on the roof of the house.
Overall, dual axis solar tracker is more efficient and have more power generation compare to the single axis & fixed
type solar tracker system.
