G20 SUMMIT- OSAKA,JAPAN

The G20 summit is being held at Osaka in


Japan. The G20 is formally known as
“Summit on Financial Markets and the
World Economy” . Its members account
for 85% of the world’s GDP, and two-
thirds of its population, it is one of the
world’s biggest congregation of officials. The
G20 is an annual meeting of leaders from
the countries with the largest and fastest-
growing economy.

The member of G20 are-


CANADA, USA, MEXICO, BRAZIL, ARGENTINA, UK, FRANCE, GERMANY, ITALY, TURKEY, SAUDI
ARABIA, SOUTH AFRICA, RUSSIA, INDIA, CHINA, JAPAN, SOUTH KOREA, INDONESIA,
AUSTRALIA PLUS THE EUROPEAN UNION.

After the Asian Financial Crisis in 1997-1998, it was found as a need and then G7 finance
ministers established the G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors meeting in 1999.
The group has no permanent staff of its own, so every year a G20 country from a rotating region
takes on the presidency, as well as the very said country organizes the next summit. The G20
members invite non-member countries along as guests. The first G20 meeting took place in Berlin in
1999. , the organization is an emergency council for presidents and prime ministers. The recent G20
summits have focused on the macroeconomy, trade, a wide range of global issues having an immense
impact on the global economy, such, climate change, and energy, health, counter-terrorism, as well
as migration and refugees. Inclusive and sustainable development remains prima.

The geographical analysis of Japan

• Japan is a country composed of 4 islands namely- HOKKAIDO, HONSHU, SHIKOKU, KYUSHU


respectively in the north to south order.
• Osaka is a city located in Kansai region of the HONSHU island of Japan.

of fish in the world.
