After the Asian Financial Crisis in 1997-1998, it was found as a need and then G7 finance
ministers established the G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors meeting in 1999.
The group has no permanent staff of its own, so every year a G20 country from a rotating region
takes on the presidency, as well as the very said country organizes the next summit. The G20
members invite non-member countries along as guests. The first G20 meeting took place in Berlin in
1999. , the organization is an emergency council for presidents and prime ministers. The recent G20
summits have focused on the macroeconomy, trade, a wide range of global issues having an immense
impact on the global economy, such, climate change, and energy, health, counter-terrorism, as well
as migration and refugees. Inclusive and sustainable development remains prima.
