ST JOHN IN OUR COMMUNITY

St John is a charity, that provides ambulance services throughout most of New Zealand. In our

area it is largely staffed by volunteers who respond to your 111 call from their home or

workplace.
If you have a medical emergency, please call 111 first. This enables the St John despatcher to

allocate the appropriate resources for your emergency in the most timely manner. In a small

community it’s tempting to call the local person you know, but they may not be rostered on, or

even in the village. Interested in more information on volunteering? Visit the website

https://join.stjohn.org.nz/home

ST JOHN SUPPORTER SCHEME

By joining the St John Supporter Scheme, you and your family get the peace of mind that in an

medical emergency if an ambulance is called for you, that bill is taken care of.
The part charge for ambulance transport is $98, so the annual cost of $50 for an individual,

$65 for a couple living together or $80 for a household is well worth it.

The Council website is very informative but there are two useful things you should be aware of.
1 Request for service (RFS). If there is something you would like Council to do, eg clear a drain, fix
a sign, lodging an RFS is a formal notice to the council and they must both respond to it and

advise you of the outcome. Go to TCDC home page, click on “our services” and on the right-

hand side of the page click RFS form. Proceed with your issue from there.
2. Registering your email with council so you receive all their weekly newsletters and other

notifications. Go to home page, click on “have your say” and compete the form on the left-
hand side.
