Welcome to the TLE - Cookery Exploratory Grade 7/8 Alternative Delivery


Mode (ADM) Module on Carry out measurements and calculations in a required
task.
This module was collaboratively designed, developed and reviewed by educators
both from public and private institutions to assist you, the teacher or facilitator in
helping the learners meet the standards set by the K to 12 Curriculum while
overcoming their personal, social, and economic constraints in schooling.

This learning resource hopes to engage the learners into guided and independent
learning activities at their own pace and time. Furthermore, this also aims to help

Definition of Terms

Abbreviation – a shortened form of word or phrase

Fluid ounce – a unit of liquid capacity equal to 1/16 pint

Measurement – the process of calculating and determining the specific amount of


an ingredient required by using standard measurement.

Pint – a unit of liquid or dry capacity equal to one half of a quart.

Peck – a dry measure of 8 quarts.

Quart – a unit of liquid capacity equal to a quarter of a gallon or two pints.

and baking provide a time to express creativity, confidence and learn lifelong
skills. In cooking and baking, math skills can also be practice, as you will
learn about measurements and conversion.

measurements of the ingredients. Proper measuring helps ensure that you
will have a good end product.

ABBREVIATIONS OF MEASUREMENTS

It is great to try new recipes when cooking for


yourself or for others. But what happens when you
encounter unfamiliar abbreviation or term when
measuring your ingredients? There can be a big
difference between a tsp and tbsp when preparing
a meal, so it is best to be sure. Here are some
measurement abbreviations that are perfect for
reading recipes.
