SECTION A

1. Evaluate:  sin ( x + b )

2. If a = 5i − j − 3k and b = i + 3j − 5k , then show that the vectors a + b and a − b are


orthogonal.

3. Find the area bounded by the curve x2 = 4y and the straight line 4y − 2 = x .

SECTION B
7. A company has two plants to manufacture bicycles. The first manufactures 60% of the
bicycles and the second plant 40%.80% of the bicycles are rated of standard quality at the
first plant and 90% of standard quality at the second plant. A bicycle is picked up at random
and found to be of standard quality. Find the probability that it comes from second plant.

Six coins are tossed simultaneously probability of getting


(i) 3 heads
(ii) no heads
(iii) at least one head

8. Using vectors, prove that the mid-point of the hypotenuse of a right angled triangle is
equidistant from its vertices.

If the sum of the mean and variance of a binomial distribution for 5 trials be 1.8, find the
distribution.

13. Using integration, find the area of the circle x2 + y2 = 16 which is exterior to the parabola
y2 = 6x .

Case – Based/Data – Based

14. Let X denotes the number of colleges where you will apply after your results and P(X = x)
denotes your probability of getting admission in x number of colleges. It is given that
