Delhi Public Sushant Lok commemorated India’s 75th Independence Day virtually. The event, which was
cast via Facebook, commenced with a beautiful compilation of memories of our Independence Day
celebrations at school. This was followed by a congratulatory message from our Pro-Vice Chairperson Ms.
Meenakshi Singh Pathania who appreciated the teachers and students for their continued efforts and
outstanding results in the Board exams as well as Interschool competitions. The Chairman of DPS Society
Shri V. K. Shunglu urged the students to safeguard India’s freedom. Sh. N.K Singh, School Patron and
Member, 15th Finance Commission, in his address, exhorted everyone to move together with compassion
and gratitude. This was followed by the flag hoisting ceremony at the school grounds, which saw the flag
unfurl to the National Anthem.
The Vice Principal, Ms. Roopali Kudesia addressed the gathering and introduced the new Principal, Mr.
Surender Pal Sachdeva, who in his introductory speech paid homage to the great freedom fighters of our
country. The special assembly culminated with an enthusiastic dance performance by our students, paying
sincere tribute to our Motherland.
Delhi Public School, Sushant Lok Celebrates The Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav (AKAM)
Delhi Public School, Sushant Lok celebrated the Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav (AKAM) from 9th to 14th
August, 2021 with a lot of enthusiasm.
In order to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of India’s Independence, a series of events under AKAM
was organized by the Govt. of India. One such unique initiative, connected with the National Anthem, was
taken up by the Ministry of Culture. As part of this exercise, all the schools affiliated to the CBSE were
urged to sing the National Anthem and upload the video on the website.
During the period of 9th to 14th August, 2021, a vast number of teachers, students, parents and non-teaching
staff and their families enthusiastically participated in the event and uploaded their videos on the website.
Each of the videos was unique and the joy on everyone’s face was palpable. The exuberant participation in
this exceptional event further showcased our firm commitment and pride in our Tricolor.
ORIENTATION FOR CLASS XII ON TERM-WISE ASSESSMENT
DPS Sushant Lok organized an Orientation programme for students of Class XII & their parents on 5thAugust,
2021 in order to apprise them about the latest ‘Term-Wise Assessment Policy’ introduced by the CBSE. Vice
Principal Ms. Roopali Kudesia used a power point presentation to explain the CBSE policy and the changes
brought about in the school assessment pattern in alignment with these changes.
Ms. Saisree Sridhar, Rep G-12 & HOD Chemistry moderated the session. Parents welcomed the change over
to a complete objective type paper in the forthcoming mid-term exams as it would train students for their
Term-I Board paper. The session came to a close with a question answer session where all the queries of
parents and students were duly addressed by the Vice-Principal.

GAME BASED LEARNING
Math Integer Bingo activity was conducted in Class VII on 25th August, 2021. On the day of the activity,
the game was initiated by calling out the mathematical expressions and sharing the same through a PPT.
The students solved the expression and tapping on their integer knowledge stroke off the numbers written
on their ticket. The prizes were announced for first row, middle row, last row, four corners and full house.
This Game Based Learning technique was employed to educate the learners about integers.
Students of classes VI- VIII participated in an Inter-House Competition, ‘Creation of Museum Artefacts’
on 25th August, 2021 with great verve and gusto. The avid learners, exhibited their creativity by crafting
vivid museum artefacts, depicting history, culture and heritage under the able guidance of their teachers
and house wardens. The results of the competition were as follows:
An Inter-house Heritage Quiz was conducted on 27th August 2021 to instill love & appreciation in
students towards Indian cultural heritage. Students were quizzed on various facets of Indian Culture,
Natural & Built Heritage, Handicrafts, and the Performing Arts of India.

Students’ knowledge and general awareness is tested through the Inter House Quiz.
75TH INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION – INTRA CLASS COMPETITIONS
A variety of theatre activities were conducted in ‘The Mask’ club. An enriching workshop was
conducted by the guest resource person Ms. Priyanka Barua on the nine emotions - Navarasa. The session
kept the students engaged throughout the session.
A Short documentary film on nature was shown to the students during the Eco club session. They were
given a virtual tour which brought them close to nature. This was followed by the "BOOK MARK
MAKING” activity on the same theme.
In sports club Thunderbirds, a host of activities that involved physical movement were conducted.
Students sweated out a little while doing activities like ‘around the world’ and ‘ goal basket’
In the Notes & Beatz club sessions, students learned to recognize different notes and they also learned about
Orchestra music.
The Empassion club session taught students about the importance of inculcating values and thinking outside
the box. A discussion on the food-a-thon drive was done with the students and their ideas were taken into
consideration.
The Hindi club, ‘Indradhanush’ introduced the students to different types of theatre and their
significant role in the Hindi Rang Manch. A small video on navras which includes different emotions was
shown to the students.
Students became acquainted with the ‘Be Funky’ - an online photo editing software in the Tinkering
Club.
A webinar was organised on 3D design and printing. The students experienced the joy of getting into the
digital world during these sessions.
School Cinema features specially curated, meaningful and diverse films for students on topics such as
Friendship, Child Safety, Creativity and Innovation, Social Justice and more.
Films have always been a supremely effective tool for imparting knowledge. Thus, to instil the values of
Responsibility, Discipline, Mutual Respect for each other and to develop Sensitivity towards the
environment, the school conducted various interactive and engaging life skill sessions for the students of
grades VI-VIII, through the medium of the School Cinema.

PRE PRIMARY WING
SUMMARY
There was much enthusiasm and excitement in the air for the month of August. To instil the fervour of
patriotism in children, the Pre-Primary Wing celebrated 75th Independence Day with great pride and
enthusiasm. On the occasion of Rakshabandhan, Nursery and Prep students made beautiful Rakhis using
different materials like silken thread, ribbon, mauli etc. To seek the blessings of Lord Krishna, the tiny tots
of the Pre-Primary Wing celebrated Janmashtami with great devotion and enthusiasm on 27th August,
2021. Dressed as Radha and Krishna, they recited shlokas from Bhagvad Gita and also danced to the tunes
of Kanha with self-crafted flutes. A webinar ‘Go Go Govinda- A Carnival of Life’ was also conducted for
the tiny tots of Pre-Nursery and Nursery on 28th August, 2021. A Dino Pajama party was organized for the
tiny tots of Pre-Nursery on 19th August, 2021. Our little Dinosaurs came dressed up in pretty pajamas and
enjoyed the various activities planned for them like Dino Story, Dino Ditty Craft, Dino Dancing etc.
Nutrition Week and Recitation activity were organized for the children of Class I to inculcate the value of
eating nutritious food for over all development of the body and to foster love for English language
respectively.
SUMMARY
The month of August had its share of activities and festivities. As part of the Curriculum Enrichment Plan,
students during the EVS sessions of classes III-V participated in various activities on the occasion of 75th
Independence Day, Rakshabandhan and Janmashtami. In the Inter School Competitions, our students
continued to bring laurels to the school. Spriha Biswal of V-D participated in Hindi Literary Fest, Doha
Vaachan, organized by DPS, Eldeco and bagged the First Position. Divesha Malhotra of V-D participated
in Dynamix, Poster-Making Competition organized by DPS, Maruti Kunj and bagged the First Position.
The students of class IV-C and IV-D presented a wonderful assembly on Independence Day on 11thAugust
which filled our hearts with patriotic fervour. On 19th August, the Primary wing of DPS, Sushant Lok,
organized ‘Rendezvous-2021’ - English Language Day. Activities such as Spell Well, Poetic, Story Yarn,
Noun Hunt and Quizzes were conducted in Classes III -V. A beautiful morning assembly on
Rakshabandhan and Janmashtami was conducted by the students of classes III-A and B on 25th August.
The technology club of the school - ‘nCrypt’ hosted its 11th Annual Intra-School event from 27th August -
28th August. Students from grades III to V participated with lot of zeal in the wide array of activities like
Tux-Paint and Scratch.
